I always align my BH's the same. Wheter it helps or not, I can't see doing it any other way. Looks more professional plus my anal tendincies force me to do so.
I would not dispute that at all. Accuracy and a well tuned bow are key. Animals move however, especially at longer distances out west and sometimes things happen that are out of your control no matter what you do to minimize them. :)
I still believe that any benefits you get from increased FOC is really more from the increase in total arrow weight as long as the FOC is over 8-9%. Bows become more eficient with a heavier arrow and momentum increases, both of which cause increased penetration as well as better stability in a...
I shot one this weekend. It appears to be very well made. The edge was razor sharp. held it well after a few shots. It looks really cool in person. I shot it out to 30 yds and it hit with my FPs. Plan to test it more and shoot it further, but initially I am impressed.
I like ST's too, but the QAD Exodus is what I shoot now. Great BH. Very strong and very sharp, plus all stainless steel. My ST ferrules would rust some if I hunted in wet climates and that was with some oil on them.
It's because they were all steel to keep strength up and they could not get the weight down to 100 with an all steel ferrule. There was some talk of a titanium DS BH, but that might have been stopped.
I am getting ready to order another. Are the pins on the Ambush as bright as the Vengence head? I ask because they appear as if they might have less exposed fiber? Are you using the single pin Ambush?
Thanks.
Dan sent me some of the all steel DS versions last year. I never used them because of those tabs that blocked the cutting edge when deployed and also that the blades were not as sharp as I like. I know many have had success with them, but I have also read well documented stories in which they...
I have gone through a lot of BH targets, because at my DL and KE, I am tough on them. So far the 18-1 has held up the best though I did get a free one for shooting it out within the first year. :p I found the Rhinoblock not very good and I shot out the Blob pretty quick too, plus it leaves...
The GT Kinetic shafts are great but the inserts and nocks suck. I broke both frequently and switched to X nocks and either HIT inserts or the Firenock Aeroinsert. The FN is a very strong outsert and is anodized black too. Only other option is a Deep Six Steel RPS insert, but you have to use DS...
I bought some to shoot ans examine, but never used them. First, blade was not as sharp as I like and the tab that opens the blade blocks the blade edge when deployed and that bothered me when I examined them. maybe that is a non issue in the field, but it was enough to cause me to sell them.
They are the best/strongest mech made IMO. I am a fixed blade guy but have used the original Steelhead 125 on some deer with outstanding results. 100% steel and fly like a FP. Only other mech I would consider is the Spitfire. I still have a pack of 25 brand new original Steelheads in 125 I...
I'm not using mechs on my elk hunt and I have KE pushing 100#. I know some have had good success with them. A friend used Spitfires last year and killed a great bull and had a tremendous blood trail. He has high KE as well. I think you are better off with a good fixed blade like a Exodus, ST...
Kyle and the crew at NBA are awesome. Kyle called me yesterday to discuss my bow as they are customizing my Eclipse and should be back next week. Their CS is top notch and they do a great job.
