Hey folks, I’m newer to the rockslide family. I’m in search of a kuiu pro bag either 6000 or 7800. Hoping to find one in ash or Vias. I’d you are looking to unload one hit me up. I’m up in Alberta.
I would say once you hit that 80+ for KE. You should be good. That being said it’s always better to use a fix blade vs a mechanical. If you ever have any doubts. I used this Sevr. As a follow up shot arrow. As I’ve never seen what it could do in person on a big game animal like a moose. And it...
Congrats on the Bull man. Gotta love archery season for Moose in Alberta. North of GP? The last moose I took with the bow a few years ago. Same result, wasp hammer 100gr smashed through a rib and broke through the opposite shoulder blade at 20 yards. Double lung, and dropped right there.
Agreed. If i was shooting a lower poundage and draw length. Id be shooting that heavier arrow with 2 bladed fixed.
That being said. I might increase my arrow weight by 25 and put that 125 gr fixed/sevr up front. We will see.
I’ve also not had any of the issues that you are describing. But what kind of quiver are you running?? I’ve got the 5 arrow tight quiver. With the double gripper. Sevr has also come together with tight spot to come up with a new quiver.
Thank you.
This is my set up for this bow.
Draw length 29 inches
Draw weight 76lbs
Kenetic energy 89.9 lbs
Speed 304
Arrow weight 436.7 grains
It was a full pass through. Slid right between the ribs. Cutting a lung in half and going through the liver out the other side.
This is my first experience with Sevr and I must say I’m impressed. I usually shoot fix blades and have always been wary of mechanicals. However, the Sevr broadheads caught my interest with its pivoting heads. And when I did more research on them. I was impressed. So I ordered some and put a...
I love my 30-06. I find it easy to get back on target with my browning stalker. I also have a 6.5 CM and a 30-30win. I shoot a 175gr terminal ascent perfect amount of stopping power. A bit over kill on WT. But allows me to be confident on elk and moose. Since where I hunt allows me opportunity...
I’d agree with Dirtriding4life.
The 30-06 check many boxes. Really available ammo at a decent price. You’ll save at least $20.00 a box on factory ammo. Unless you are trying to reach out passed that 500 yard mark. I’ve gone out to 650 with my 30-06. On targets. But must of my big game is taken...
How long have you been using the release for?
It might be a form issue. However, it could also be an arrow tuning issue. Are all your arrows doing it? Or is it just some of them? You may have to tune your arrows? As that’s been my issue in the past.
Shooting with both eyes open can take a...
Hey man, I'm just west of Calgary and like all have stated. Wind proofing is key. I’d suggest something like the first lite chamberlain for glassing or even the solitude jacket now that it has wind proofing. I personally use the chamberlain for glassing and the Uncompahgre pants. Or if you like...
Hey welcome to Rokslide and the addiction to bow hunting. It’s an addictive drug man and I just can’t get enough of it. Joining a local club is the best way to get involved in the community. I’d also recommend going to a local pro shop and get to know the folks there. Other organizations you can...
Hey, was following your thread and was curious how did your hunt go??? Did you end up with a ram??? I’m looking to put a late season kit together. This information was super helpful.
This is my first dedicated spring season, and with everyone I’ve talked to. They gave me the advice on lots of glassing and if you see a good boat to use a predator call to stop him and bring them in. Hopefully you boys get some more advice. Can’t wait to hear how your hunt turns out.
