    Report Violations on Public Land!

I can’t believe there are critics on somebody reporting a blatant and harmful violation! 😂 If you don’t understand why a road is closed that doesn’t make it alright to break the law! In my experience closed roads have improved hunting. If you’re there to drive around or look at scenery I...

    Does this mean war?

First off let’s not get “too” political. It is very early and details are still coming out but IF this was launched from Iran itself is that a declaration of war...

    What are You Watching?

Been watching a ton of Corey Jacobsons videos on elk101. His Destination Elk series actually has me excited for the next episodes! Hunting public, Dialed in Hunter, the Born and Raised guys are fun to watch too. Love watching Coon Creek Outdoors for everything trapping/skinning related! Uncut...

    Never lose an arrow again?

Went WAY down the rabbit hole today and stumbled across the “arrow string tracker” video! I know FOB users are few and far between but I HAVE TO ask if anybody has experience with this?? It seems like a pretty neat and practical way to find lost arrows!! Thanks in advance!

    Warning for updated MT regulation

With the MT application season recently opened I wanted to give everyone a heads up on a new regulation I happened to overlook!! In years passed, if you were lucky enough to draw a special permit, you were still able to hunt other hunting districts using your general license. This is no longer...

Light Weight IPhone Camera Tri pod

Also interested in something to hold an iPhone for self filming! I’m thinking of something I can telescope and stake into the ground. Will probably have to make something out of an old trekking pole or selfie stick though because all I’m able to find is a tripod type setup. If you come up with...

    Elk shed elevations

Main question is do elk typically shed their antlers at the lowest point of elevation in their winter range or at some point as they move up in elevation?? I know it can vary from year to year dependent on weather etc but I’d love to hear from some people with more experience in shed hunting...

What would you give up to save OTC opportunities?

I’m sure that’s what you tell the warden when he asks why you’re packing your rifle around during archery seasons. 😉 A bear safety complaint is probably the lamest argument I’ve heard so far. And as for the spray and pray, I’d say that’s more commonly used on elk with high powered rifles by...

Fixed Pin or Moveable, 1st Time Elk Hunter

If it’s your first time bow hunting I’d say stick with a fixed. With you being a bow hunter I’d say a 3 pin movable would be just fine if you were leaning towards a movable. One thing to keep in mind is terrain. I am a DIY guy and do my own calling so I’m not even going to bother hunting spots...

    Scouting during archery - rude?

Not rude at all!! Definitely not necessary and if you’re scouting for MT antelope anywhere other than from the drivers seat of your ride it is probably overkill. Goodluck!

What would you give up to save OTC opportunities?

By total I meant gun. First post edited to reflect. If you think you’ll be able to get more than 2 shots off with your bolt action rifle it might be beneficial to look at accounts of griz attacks. Should change your mind.

What would you give up to save OTC opportunities?

Total in the gun. (Backup rounds in pocket) 1 first shot and 1 follow up shot before requiring a reload. Again it would be similar to the waterfowl regulations requiring the plug which limits 3 rounds in the gun. While it isn’t a save for OTC tags it may extend the life of them for a while...

What would you give up to save OTC opportunities?

I agree with the many posts that OTC is on the way out. I believe it will start with rifle quickly followed by bow/muzzy as the herd moves that direction to hunt. One compromise I’ve always thought may be effective is a round limit to hunting rifles much like waterfowl. Unprepared hunters with...

    Cow calls vs bugle!?😎

I’ve called elk doing both and scared elk doing both. Phase of rut plays into it a lot for me and I’ll often hit them with bugles and cow calls if I’m on them and haven’t found what is triggering yet. It’s normally pretty clear which one they are responding to and once I find that I stick with...

Which 360 video camera for self filming hunts

First Post so here goes nothing! I’ve always wanted to get into self filming hunts and recently found 360 cameras. Just wondering if anyone has experience with these and if there are any recommendations or advice before I make the investment. Thanks everyone!
