I have quite a number of rifles that will out shoot me consistently. I am looking for guns (multiple being the case) that will do as desired when the trigger is squeezed and I did my part. Confidence in the gun is what I am looking for. Familiarity through use makes this second hand.
I was...
As the saying goes, you generally get what you pay for. That being said, I would suggest consider getting a bigger budget. I would suggest either a VXII in a 6-18 or a VXIII in a 4.5-14 or 6.5-20. If you can't afford new, look for a used one. I have found several on this forum at fair...
Consider an M2 Benelli in a 12 gauge. Won't shoot the 3 1/2's, but shouldn't need them anyway. I have both the M2 and SBE2 and preference is generally the M2. Plenty of 3 inch shells to kill turkeys on the market.
30338 makes a very good point. You might want to consider buying a safe before another gun or risk some jack**s stealing them sometime. Sorry about the reality of the situation.
If you have a high confidence rating with the 300, then shoot that. Shrek is right. That being said, if you want something to shoot deer and antelope sized animals, consider something in the 25-06 to the 280 range.
I won't disagree with GK. My point is that the Winchester and Hornady will work fine. Unless you are going to reload a lot and demand a high degree of accuracy, the Norma brass is not necessary.
I'm not a expert, but one of the primary reasons for annealing brass is to soften or make more...
Unless you are going to use the gun a lot, I would track down some Winchester or get the Hornady. I have had really good luck with Winchester brass and the 115 grain Bergers also. I think I looked at using Varget but went with IMR4831 instead.
Awesome machine. Get a 40 so you can use the dies. Once you get a feel on how the loader works, you will wonder what you were waiting for. I have a 550 and have their 45acp, 38/357 and 32 h&r dies. Need some 9 and 40 and one or two others. Once you get it set, just loads like clockwork...
My M70 in 300WSM likes the 180 grain Partitions (spitzers). I use 4831SC and off the top of my head I think is 68.5 grains. Actually shot better than at 66.5 grains that I had previously used. If you want more details, send a pm.
Sell all three and buy three different ones. I would go with a 338 of your choice, a 280 or 280AI or 28 Nosler and either a 243 or 25-06. Not much on this planet you couldn't hunt with this stable of guns. Nobody tell my wife this or I would have to sell a lot of rifles that she would claim I...
As you put this thread on the long range part of the forum, I presume that accuracy is more important than volume. I don't have the desire and time to do the long range thing, but I do quite a bit of loading to fuel the prairie dog shooting trips each year. Nothing better than live target...
I'm waiting for an answer on this one. I would suspect that you may get many opinions on this. I have been told to generally stay away from brushes, especially the metal ones of most types. Based on shooting many different rifles, different ones and different ammo may require different...
Last year I shot a moving mule deer at 75 yards. Due to location and open environment, I dropped to a seated position and nailed him on the first shot. I do a fair amount of indoor 22 shooting off hand in the winter, but I will use every shooting advantage possible to increase my odds of a...
I saw this earlier today and just had a chance to watch the video. Congratulations Ryan and Robby!!!! That is an awesome deer!!!!!! The video is absolutely priceless to see schoolboys get so excited about a deer. Makes you want to hunt.
