Well, windy as hell. They are shooting again tomorrow and since I didn’t shoot much of the course they said I could come back early in the morning and shoot again, no charge. Pretty cool of them.
Ethics and morality predate the Bible. We don’t have to agree and I’m not trying to demean your faith but ethics was a philosophical study before the Bible was written. Naturally that contradicts your beliefs about history and I can accept that just as you should accept that a person isn’t...
It’s water. Problem is it currently takes more energy to create hydrogen than you get out of it. That can be mitigated to some extent by using renewable electricity to produce hydrogen from water but the efficiency isn’t very high. Unless there is some new way I’m unaware of, which is quite...
There is no question about it. No actual climatologist thinks it isn’t currently happening. CO2 is an insulator. We are dumping CO2 into the atmosphere at a much higher rate than happens in nature.
Very nice. We have a very similar county range. I think there are 5 trails in country that looks exactly like your local range with rocky hills and Juniper trees. There are also picnic facilities with bbq pits. There aren’t 3D targets. They are compressed bails with animal targets. Not quite as...
I went to the archery range to work on my sights this morning. I’m shooting with three pins (30, 40, 50). I saw some signs for a 3D shoot and went over to check it out. Only $10 and 30 targets spread through our local green belt trail system. I finished sighting in my bow and came home for lunch...
@mtwarden
BTW. This is a great test and I can’t think of a more scientific + real world approach. Looking forward to it.
Edit - One variable could be how each piece fits you. Ideally they’d all fit the same but if not that should be noted.
Another edit 🤣
And weather. Temperature, humidity and...
Maybe add some brands in the mix that aren’t necessarily marketed to hunters? Patagonia mid-weight Capilene, some stuff by Black Diamond and Mountain Hardware come to mind.
It’d also be cool to see what you can find at the Goodwill or some of the less expensive brands. This might be something...
Have to agree. Though I’ve only had an ancient little ski-doo tundra. Lots of fun out hunting predators, ice fishing and exploring the Caribou Hills on it. When I lived near Ninilchik I spent a fair amount of time in the hills. When I lived with in Kenai I could ride right out into the swamp...
Download Avenza Maps. It is a free app and has the USFS use maps along with open\close dates and other use information. I use the info to mark gate locations in OnX and put the dates in the waypoint notes.
Motorcycles for me too. Mine can stand up all by itself… sometimes it likes to lay down, but only if I do my part.
And fishing.
Best is when I combine the two with a little camping.
Learn to control yourself. This thread was not started for politics. I replied to it because I like to hear about people still doing what they love to do beyond the years that most folks quit. You don’t need to drag your dogma into every thread.
If you’d like to relive the glory of an old...
Read that post again. I didn’t say irrelevant. They are just old and dead.
More importantly, let’s not ruin this thread with politics. It’d be silly and unbecoming of a distinguished fella such as yourself. 😃
What’s the age limit to be considered an old dude here? At 48 I’m guessing I’m still a youngster. Though I enjoy reading about the exploits of you guys. @mtwarden is one that comes to mind right off. I hope to be pushing as hard as he does right up until the end.
Quartering an elk or deer by yourself after dark in griz country is not fun 😬
What do you do to make this less creepy? Especially an elk. Time is a factor and rushing is dangerous.
