Great suggestion. Only thing I'd add is do your research and figure out who you'd pay full price to hunt with and then get on their cancellation list. Personally I'm not sure I'd spend the money for a cancellation hunt with someone I wouldn't be prepared to pay the full amount to hunt with. Just...
Another plus of the divided MR lid is it makes a perfect cradle to use it as a gun rest, I've shot a few animals off of it now. I've been toying with using a MR lid on my new DT1 pack similar to what you've done.
Curious if there is any specific reason for the difference in how the lumbar pad is fastened at the top on a DT1 and T1? Was out for a hike with a buddy yesterday and we were comparing packs to see what was the same or different.
DT1 with velcro strap on top of lumbar pad which goes through the...
When I first got it and was hiking around with some weight in the pack I was getting some discomfort on the top/front of my hip bones. A quick picture sent to Aron and he ID'd it as too small of a belt. A little over a week later I had a new belt in my hands courtesy of Aron & Heath and it sure...
Personally I found little value in my Huntin Fool membership - and it's not cheap either. I didn't really gain any additional info with HF that I hadn't already found in my own research or with the info available through Eastmans.
No it wasn't. Initially at a show earlier this year I saw both the Nomad and EMR II first hand. The Nomad I ruled out right away as it wasn't the layout I was looking for in a pack. I debated for quite some time on the EMR II but in the end just decided I liked the more "traditional" layout of...
Unless there is a reason not to I'm thinking the strap underneath makes more sense. I want to make sure the load lifters aren't compromised and can work the way they should.
This seems odd? For lack of better name the strap that runs along the top of the frame so you can use it as a handle to lift up the pack runs over the top of my load lifter straps. Seems that it should run under the load lifters? The outer most buckles are for the top lid of the pack.
Just got my pack and have gone over it very briefly to figure out whats what, super stoked to try it out. I've been running a MR pack of one form or another for a few years so the first differences I notice are the prominent lumbar pad, as well the shoulder and waist straps are less padded than...
Haven't received my DT1 I ordered just yet but that's my plan. The similar set up has been fine with my current MR pack. May also try to carry my rifle on the back/center of my pack using a grab-it. Anyone carry a rifle that way?
Plenty of good info in this thread. Kind of confirms for me why I chose the aluminum stays. Everything indicates I've got a normal back, but I ordered aluminum just in case I need to do any tweaking. Come on DT1 and warmer weather...
Your initial testing of your duplex rig sounds positive. I'm looking forward to getting this pack and trying it out, fingers crossed it fits and works as I hope. Hopefully by then this crappy minus -30'ish winter weather has warmed up. Good grief its been chilly of late. Bring on spring and time...
