.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I have been using Hornady 75gr BTHP factory ammo to good effect. I have taken mule deer, white tail, and pronghorn with the bullet. All one shot. The bullet behaves similarly to a Berger VLD in flesh.

    Your BHA Dollars at Work?

BHA was founded by a leftist democrat. This isn’t surprising at all. BHA does a few good things, but nothing other organizations are not doing who are far more respective of our freedoms. BHA will never see any of my money. The hunting community is laterally working against their own interest by...

Are Thermal Devices Ethical For Predawn Scouting and Hiking?

Why would it be unethical? What’s unethical is applying and forcing someone else to follow your ethics. As long as they are not hurting you, who cares? What happened to the respect for liberty? If you don’t want to use it fine, I understand. If you don’t like me using new tech, fine. The minute...

    Wild Animal Fat

I like that fat, usually. One thing I do when butchering game is to take a small hunk of fat off the animal I’m about to butcher, fry it up in a pan, and taste it. If it tastes good, I save as much fat as I can. On cuts I know I’m going to eat in the next month, I’ll leave the fat on. If the...

    “Affordable” long range scopes

Do you have experience with the Leupold’s? The last couple I had experience with had issues, so I have been jaded to the brand ever since. That was 6 or 7 years ago. Maybe they have improved?

    “Affordable” long range scopes

I have a LRTS and LRHS and feel the same. Glass clarity isn’t so important to me on a scope - I’m not suing it to locate game, it just has to be “good enough” to get the job done. I just with the reticle has .2 mil hash’s instead of .5. Bushnell is t selling the LRTSi though anymore I thought.

    “Affordable” long range scopes

I’m looking for a scope in MRAD for a long range hunting rig for backpacking. So far what has caught my interest is Maven, Tract, and the Bushnell LRHS2. Most important to me is tracking accuracy and zero retention followed by a good reticle with wind hold hash marks and locking/capped wind...

    Bipod comparisons?

Reviving this old thread. I have magpul bipods on my rifles, but have a new rifle being put together that’s going to go into XLR 4.0 chassis. I want a bipod set up that is reasonably light, attaches to an Arca-Swiss rail, and is sturdy enough for long range precision shooting. Any suggestions?
