I grind mine the same way, coarse first and then a fine grind. I've never really noticed my second grind going slowly, and I'm only using a #8 grinder.

Another vote for NAP Spitfires, I've been using the spitfire edges for years. I too like the trophy tips as opposed to the cut on contact. The spitfires excel in their simplicity, there's just nothing to go wrong on them.

I run the medium oval in my sawtooth and it works great. If you're never going to run it in anything smaller I'd go with the taller walls, negligent weight penalty with the ability to run bigger sticks.
