An acquaintance backcountry elk hunts every year in the same general area. This year he visited his kill site from the previous season and found the skeletons of a black bear and badger. The skeletons and skulls look like they died around the same time and near each other. The theory is that...
Mt. Hardware “Room for Three” tent. Bought in 2000. It has been all over the west. It has weathered wind storms on the CA Coast and above the tree line. It has housed multiple kids and dogs. I have had other tents literally fall apart within this tent’s lifespan. It’s not the lightest but...
One more:
“The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare”
It’s about British SAS saboteurs in WWII and it looks like it will be a Guy Ritchie film released this year. I always prefer to read the book before watching the film.
UPDATE: Less than half an hour after my above post about my VG stock, someone from Stocky’s PM’d me about sending me a shipping label to swap out my stock with a new one.
This is my first product from Stocky’s so I don’t have a large sample size regarding QC, but I have been impressed with...
You can see from the photos that one side of the barrel channel on my new VG is thicker than the other. I dropped my T3X in just to see how it fit and it appears that the channel for the action and barrel was cut a little to one side. I have a CarbonSix sendero profile barrel on order that...
I already had the photos on my phone from when I was doing an estimate for my buddy of chopping 6” off his 300WM and getting a 200 fps loss. I was guesstimating that his 6” suppressor would weigh roughly the same as the last 6” of his barrel. The suppressor would also tame some recoil in his...
I’m pretty sure Panther is right unless physics change for these situations. I was just running numbers for a buddy considering cutting down a 300WM. You do lose velocity but if the other factors are constant, you are also losing recoil energy.
I did pick one. The 6.5 PRC. But ammo companies won’t stop innovating if it is lucrative and the consumers keep consuming. Hence, the point of this thread. What do you see as the next new commercially successful cartridge and what factors do you think will drive its success?
This is a great place to hang out and hook a brother up with some advice if you need a break from the Rokstock or What cause the Rokslide shift to smaller cartridges threads.
I will be purchasing a new scope soon and I’m interested in the Trijicon Credo HX line. I’m trying to decide which objective diameter would be the best for me. I primarily hunt big game in Eastern Washington in open country. The options are:
2.5 - 15 x 42
4 - 16 x 50
2.5 - 15 x 56
Weight...
Percentages help me quantify the recoil savings. The planned 7 PRC build would have about 40% more recoil than the 6.5 PRC build.
My old 30-06 Tikka had about 25% more recoil than the planned 7PRC build.
And… my old 30-06 Tikka had a whopping 75% more recoil than the planned 6.5 PRC build...
