They are up for 300 now. Just an FYI the cabelas/bps vipers for 300 are the older versions with narrower fov. Still pretty good Binos but they are different than the current model, take a look at the specs
Looking at a pair of the original Vortex Razors 10x42s. How were these older binos regarded? Are they a big step down from the new Razor HDs?
Alternatively I can get Athlon Cronus G2 for the same price
I don’t know the specs for the new UL tarps but you don’t need mesh or footprint. Just some tyvek or polycro under your pad. The tipis are very weatherproof & I’m a big fan.
I just don’t see a one layer tipi being heavier than a tent with mesh and poles.
Instead of the tent get one of the new BA UL tipi tarps? They look sweet!
Don’t need the tent mesh for most western hunts & you’ll save a lot of weight without tent poles
What would you go with for elk hunting in Oct/Nov in relatively open country?
A single set of 12's or both 10's & 15's?
All binos would be on a tripod and the mid-range glass.
Just need to find elk, and tell it's a large vs small bull, but don't need to make out much antler detail.
We were all shocked when ours started buzzing. Our Coleman stove is nothing crazy either. Not really sure how big of a concern this should be but it kept us outside and cold.
We were using one of those Coleman kitchen stoves in our wall tent last year and almost immediately the carbon monoxide alarm went off. So we moved our kitchen table outside and cooked in the single digits in the dark, which was not nearly as enjoyable as it would have been in the warm wall...
Take a look at silnylon tent footprints. The big camp companies often sell them on closeout. They work pretty well for a lightweight, quick, cheap glassing/emergency tarp
Cracks are in the stock, just barely visible on the exterior.
It’s an blind mag staggerfeed so the Accustock would need some modifications to fit. I did see some stocks on Numrich that would fit though
My friend picked up a second-hand Savage 110 7mm rem mag with a B&C stock.
After further examination, he noticed some hairline cracks in the stock near both the recoil lug and tang. It's too late now to do anything about his purchase and he overlooked this at the time.
Wondering a few things...
That's a different type of short-barreled rifle than the one the ATF defines (under 16" barrel).
If you are getting a can you will quickly learn all about the wonderful intricacies of the NFA.
If you want a can on a bolt action hunting rifle 20" is popular, 18" can work too. 22" is a pretty...
I went up there when we got lucky to draw a moose tag. Early October.
After we shot our moose we did some grouse hunting. Basically just walking through the woods off the logging roads. We had no dog and had no problem flushing birds. It was a blast.
