SilencerCo Omega 300, direct thread. I shot a moose this year 500 yards from camp and the guys sitting in the cook tent didn't hear the shot. It definitely reduces recoil, I did not like shooting the 300 win mag pushing hot loads more than 5 or 6 times in a row without the suppressor. Now I...
Bring a 10x10 sil tarp with you that can be set up with trekking poles. We do this on sheep hunts and call it 'The Garage'. I take it with us when we go out for the day for emergency shelter as it is light. When we get back to camp it sets up quick with some trekking poles, and we toss our...
As someone who has really only hunted Alaska, I find the footage of what they do down south fascinating. Riding around on mules watching your dogs tree squirrels? That would be a blast to me, I've never heard of such a thing. What I like about his show is a lot of episodes they don't connect...
I have made awesome brush racking sounds with a plastic Sailor Jerry Rum bottle with the bottom cut off. If space isn't an issue, the top of a mini action-packer lid is the best brush scraping sound device I have heard yet.
Multiple times I have seen moose bulls grouped up as early as August...
Sad for the dog, after watching the way it was moving afterwards it looks as if the spine was severed? It was pretty intense to see how efficient a cougars bite to the back of the neck can be. We don't have big cats up here.
I hunted 20A the last two years, 83 combined miles on the boots , all of your observations I concur with for sure in that unit - or at least the two areas I was in. I have only seen two rams that were marginal to shoot and most likely seven years old by rings.
Last winter we were camping in Arctic Ovens and had Buddy heaters with hoses to propane tanks outside. -30 was the projected lowest temp, but that was for the closest town which was 36 miles away. The remote camp we were at had the temp drop to -60, my regular buddy heater wasn't cutting it...
i had a pot long and deep enough to fit skull, but the antler beams touched the rim and kept the top half out. I flipped it upside down and boiled the top half when the bottom was done, worked fine, still a pain in the ass though. lots of shims to hold the head at the correct angle.
Thats awesome! I had a wolverine run right up to 30 yards away from me this sheep season, but as it did not open until Sep. 1st I couldn't take him. Good job!
So I was doing a distressed cow call this season for moose, trying to get a bull to keep coming for my 2 hunting buddies. They had circled down hill and were trying to close distance when they heard a large critter moving through the brush towards me. The critter turned out to be a bear that...
