As the title says I'm looking into getting a barrel chambered for NRL hunter matches, and I'm torn between the 6.5x47 Lapua or the 25 cal version.
Given the power factor requirements I'd have to send a 134 around 2840, or I could shoot a heavier 6.5 like a 144 lrht or 147 eldm in the low 2600s...
I have a 26" 8 twist Criterion 6.5 prefit for an Origin action, also fits savage and Aero Solus
MTU contour, weighs 5lbs 5 oz.
I bought it new this spring and shot one match with it and decided to go with a 6mm that's better suited for PRS.
It shoots 145s and 147s around .5s, about 150 rounds...
That's definitely a bummer but Trijicon will fix it, the 3 I own have been great and don't have this issue so hopefully it's a fluke.
No need for a debate in semantics that's definitely a QC miss.
There's a pile of complaints about Burris XTR3s having flakes in the glass but I guess we can't...
I was born and raised here in the west, and while the 6.5 creed isn't the amazing cartridge it's hyped up to be its certainly the best all around choice for our average shots between 200-600 yards.
FWIW the past 2 of 4 seasons I killed all my critters beyond 500 yards, with another 3-5 coyotes...
Not a terrible shot at all but it certainly could've gone the other way with a bonded type bullet, I've seen bulls go miles on a single lung hit with poor expansion.
A couple take aways for me are:
1) your buddy found his max effective range
2) Long range killing needs to be done with...
I've fired Almost 800 rounds through my match rifle that wears a ZCO 5-27×56 in the past 4 months and have yet to experience zero shift. It's been banged around on shooting props and knocked over multiple times at NRL and PRS matches
Probably driven over a thousand miles now with it bouncing...
