I got a laugh out of the “willing to work hard”, but “where are the elk”? post. This is not a knock on the OP, because it’s about impossible to scout, or do much research from another state. I totally understand the frustration.
That being said, your first trip is most likely going to be a...
Later down the road if you don’t like the height and want to go lower, you can buy the warne bases, and have a smith open up the slots so a pic ring can be used. Most warne bases are .15 tall, so you drop down at least a tenth of an inch lower.
Trust me, you will be shocked how easy things go...
It’s not a design flaw, as older talleys worked just fine. The price hasn’t changed much, so something had to give. Just like everything else, you get what you pay for.
This stuff is so easy it’s not even funny, and some are still in denial. This is what happens when a manufacturer builds oval rings for round scopes, and says that it’s supposed to be that way. People are easily brainwashed.
It’s only easy to get what he has working if you have done it before and have the tools. A decent lapping bar is about $70, ant then you need bedding compound. Another $20 or so. It all adds up either way.
I lapped one of those sets of talley’s I posted about earlier. In order to get a stress...
You stated talley lightweights aren’t round. That is a problem. It‘s shit QC. Period. I have never run into a quality ring that is oval. Makes zero sense.
If they were great rings, or easy to get working most of the time, this thread wouldn’t exist.
It’s apparent the OP has limited experience...
Ughh. If you cant set the scope in the ring bottoms without stress being introduced, aluminium rings have a good chance of cracking. Usually out in the middle of nowhere on a hunt.
I have talleys that fit the scope tube like a glove, and talleys that fit like socks on a rooster. To the point of...
BTW. Seekins lows are .82 high, which will put you at around 1.2 total height with the EGW rail. From looking at your pics, you won‘t be much higher that you are now.
The talleys of yesteryear were much better quality than todays rings. Todays talleys will work if you lap then bed them, but out of the box they are rarely going to work.
Below is a pic of a talley lightweight on an swfa tube. It was so out of spec, it wouldn’t even fit the scope tube. When...
There are multiple rail manufacturers. If you don’t care for a rail, you could chop it, and end up with essentialy bases. The only downside is a tenth or so higher mounting height. Weight is almost the same as using talley lightweights.
As stated earlier in this thread, this will solve your...

Like I said, there is a thread on accurateshooter about the very thing you are talking about. Deleting threads after pressure from NF. Nothing was deleted, UNLESS the OP deleted it by themselves.
Where do you think the Mil-spec scopes are being made right now? I‘ll give you a hint—-Orofino...
If you are going to post lies, at least make them believeable. Look up Alex wheeler on accurateshooter. He is the one with the scope checker. No posts were deleted, unless the OP deleted them by their own choice. The Nightforce competition scopes did have initial zero holding problems, and...
I guess I need to clarify. Using cci 450s(or any other SRP), they will hangfire somewhere between 20-35* F. The 450s are a bit better, but you will still have problems. I guess it’s worth a try in your rifle since you already have them. Good luck.
