I didn’t read all the replies, but I also hate range finder pockets and all the junk hanging off bino harness. I run a MR bino harness now that has small stretch pockets on the side that I can easily put my sig kilo 5k in with some stretch cord tied off so it doesn’t fall out with out me...
Where I’m at we don’t pour the floors in crawlspaces, never seen that. Concrete is $200 a yard and having some one pour and finish a slab is $3/ft. You’re over doubling the amount of forms and concrete to get a decent height. I don’t know, that’s just me and where I’m at.
I’m not sure why I keep seeing that a basement is cheap sqft. My dad always said this too. Its very expensive sqft where I’m at and have built my entire career.
I’m letting anyone know that posts anything on YouTube of Montana that has even smalll terrain features , there’s a 75% chance I can find it or already know it in about 20 minutes lol it’s too easy.
Very species dependent. For elk, it’s not like you’re even hunting the same animal between September and November and there are far more differences than similarities.
Killed a number of critters with 7/08 with 162 eldm and 180 eldm.

I can resemble this remark… from where I live, to what I do for work, to how I spend my money and lastly how aggressive I am financially to ‘retire’ sooner to hunt more elk. I really do enjoy hunting other species and sure wish the elk hunting addiction would break loose one of these days but...
That can be said for the same places I hunt in Montana. I can go a week with out seeing an elk, but certainly never see another person. And there always one crusty bull laying around.
Wondering what the best 3 port brake for a sporter profile (tikka sl) is? I’ve always used hollands and micro bastards. Curious if there’s anything better out there in terms of recoil reduction.
Thanks!
Thanks! I’ll try that on my next trip to the range. I thought about getting a pole with a fork on it like argali’s for the rear rest. It’s a complete disaster watching me try and get the shooting sticks together with the straps 😂
I can’t for the life of me, get remotely close to the same stability as a bipod, using sticks and pack, pack prone etc and the speed isn’t even close. Some one teach me there ways. I’ve used a Harris for 10 years and can deploy that sucker and use my hand or binos as a rear rest and be far more...
If I were to go back to a smaller 30 call like a wsm or 30/06 I would be using a 190 eldm or 200 eldx. I bet it’d stabilize a 208 eldm which is as big as anyone would reasonably need to go. So the 1/11 would do everything good need. The 200 eldx in 30/06 did well last year from 275-500 on elk
I’m pretty reduced to a late season elk hunter now and i absolutely hate it and love it all at the same time. A nice base camp or hunting from home always sounds so nice, and I still do it often. However, spike camping is so much more effective. It takes so long and so much energy to get into...
