Same here in fact a considerable amount of my hunting is done with a smoothbore slug gun, a muzzleloader or a bow. I have had considerable success using regular cup and core bullets, the Nosler Partition and the Ballistic Tips. I have been playing with some target bullets but still prefer a...
Well I did a jug test with the Hornady 123 gr. BTHP. Absolutely destroyed the first two jugs and shredded the third with a piece of jacket going through the 4th jug. This from a 16 inch barreled Grendel, velocity at the muzzle 2430 fps. The jugs were set up in front of my target frame at 100...
Well I have 500 of the 123 grain Hornady BTHP bullets. Also some Barnes matchburners in 120 grain. Those definitely are going to open quickly. destroyed first two gallon jugs, hole through the third and found in 4th. Shot into water filled gallon jugs at 100 yards. Muzzle velocity 2430 fps.
Well I guess I am still in the dark side. In my 243 I use the 58 gr, Vmax and the 55 gr, Ballistic tips pushed to around 3750 fps. Where I hunt they are heavily pressured and you better shoot fast. I have a 6 Grendel and a 243. So far those bullets have killed everything shot no sweat. The rifle...
Now that we have gotten so deep into various match bullets for game with emphasis on smaller diameters has interest in Mono metal bullets gone away? At one time they were supposed to be the answer.
My first eastern Washington elk rifle was a 30-06 loaded with 200 grain Partitions. Worked fine but for some inexplicable reason I put together a 19 inch barreled Whelen loaded with 250 gr. Partitions, Speer Hotcors and Hornady Innerlocs. On both rifles I used fixed 4 power Leupolds. I guess the...
Pretty sure this thread, which could have been useful information has gone off the rails. I have had no failures using the 223 because I have always shot it carefully in consideration of the bullet I was using. I have had some not so great 243 kills because I treated it like a 30-06 a couple...
Yep right to the center of the notch. I have ground a bit of a ushape from the front wall of the magazine also. Part of the magazine issue is the cartridge needs to pop out of the feed lips sooner.
What fixed my 350 legend upper was simple and free. Grind the magazine feed lips back to the middle of the first groove on the side of the mag. This allows the round to have a slightly nose up attitude. Worked wonders. The full diameter on the Legend is much further forward than the shoulder of...
I run a two stage RRA Varmint trigger. Like it a lot and not that expensive. Under $100.

I Would own either. I see no issue with the belt. Personally I don't need High BC 175 or 180 grain bullets. There are several lighter bullets available that are pretty high BC, certainly good enough to at least 600 yards. I reload everything so the case shape means little to nothing,
