Same here. Base, mid-layer, puffy and Jacket. They all have them. They will sometimes get covered or stacked, but I've learned to sort them out pretty quickly. I'd rather have them than not for archery through 3rd rifle. The orange vest gets in the way and more tangled than the hoods.
Could a larger bottle with a regulator be used to keep a more consistent flame?
Great thread. Been wanting a to buy something for a while now. Just ordered a Burstfire.
Very cool. Some tough folks out there.
I get tired of freeze-dried food after 7 days... can you imagine eating that for 6 months... wow?!?
Thanks for the recommendation. Any others worth watching?
I weigh my pack in an attempt to go lighter each year. With experience and gear upgrades, I have cut some significant weight. But it's still too heavy.
I have come to the realization that my pack will never be ultralight. I think some of the comfort items are worth the weight and I don't...
Regarding recoil...
In my opinion, yes. I have a Weatherby Ultralight chambered in .270 Win. It's 5.75 lbs bare, 7 lbs scoped. With 130s over 60 grains of powder (similar case capacity to the 6.5 PRC) if slaps the snot out of me. It's a pleasure to carry for miles and miles and the recoil is...
They are worth the weight for me. A pad keeps you warm, dry and more comfortable than sitting on the (cold, hard, wet) ground. I added an ultralight chair this year to help with back issues. Game changer when glassing and at camp when staying in the woods for multiple nights. Sitting in a...
For me, angled spotters are more comfortable when glassing for a long period of time. The straight spotters make my neck hurt... especially when glassing the same elevation or uphill.
I can make most situations work with an angled spotter. Except for glassing from a window mount. Even with a...
The link you listed is for last season's Big Game brochure. The current Big Game hunt codes from the 2023-2024 brochure match up to what I am seeing online.
Both. I load my own for big game cenerfire bolt action rifles (22-250, 270 Win, 300 WSM, 300 WM). I shoot factory ammo when plinking and for a 6.5 Grendel AR. Also use factory ammo for shotgun and pistol.
I think the bore on each can is specific to the caliber ordered. I have the 6 Stack with a 5" reflex on my 300 WSM, and the bore on the blast baffle measures approximately .334"
I am also interested in how much the drop at the heel effects muzzle rise on the Mesa vs other stocks with a straight comb (AG Alpine Hunter or Privateer). The comments below are from the smith that put together my rifle and will likely build another for me in the future. He offers the Mesa...
