I got the 8s first. I really loved that pair but I worked a really nice pair of 12s and traded the 8s in for the 12s. I felt that there was very little penalty for the extra magnification. There will be a pair of 10X32 NLs in my future.
I almost had a large Mountain Grizzly (at least 8ft bear) take my ass on a lateral moraine two years ago. I had left my rifle with my pack as I was trying to get a plan to cross the glacier. I stepped around the corner of a pingo and the bear was up on his hind feet about four feet away, locked...
1) Don't pack too many clothing items.
2) Finish your packing at your house because you will add unnecessary stuff at the trail head.
3) Push yourself as far as you can but no sheep is worth dying for.
4) Time can be worth more in the mountains than money.
5) A happy wife is a happy life.

I will get you that price. Roksliders. Tell me what you need and I will set up a couple of baskets in the cart with your names on them. Our manager is young( 7th manager in 4 years) but I have been there for a while. Let me know what you need. We are getting lots of inventory but it is moving at...
We have a complete room full of it in both Primus and MSR 8oz. The young ones don't seem to stock the isobutane as quickly and I have been at the homestead in KL. I will make sure it is stocked tomorrow.
I have a Kelty Cloud 6400 that doesn't but I wouldn't want to stick it next to a stove! It is one of the full Dynema with dynema thread and they seam sealed it at the factory. I talked to the Kelty factory guys once and they said that it would take 2500.00 to reproduce it today.
Going to take this bear hunting this fall.
OG 1956 Model 71 in 348-450 Ackley improved. Loaded at max it is 5% more powerful than 458 Win mag with 500 grain bullets.
Go with the Storm Star. The winds up there can be killer. Weight won't be a tremendous factor as they will drop you fairly close to where you will be hunting. Make sure you have goat tags as well as sheep tags. They have a lot of mt. dogs up there.
I have run a Black Diamond Bibler Eldorado and...
So I don't have a SG Grumman. However I have looked at them and while they are warmer for weight to warmth ratio I don't know if they would be more durable. The Aerolite is bomber.
This is the Kelvin Aerolite vs. the Arcteryx Cerium
The Cerium is probably 10-11 oz vs. 15-17oz for Aerolite.
I am not saying aerolite is bad. It isn't but it has a place like my Cabelas Transalaska Insulator Hoodie that was a phreaking classic. It is extremely durable and will wear very...
It is 15 oz. You can go much lighter for early season. I would say great for mid season. September in Alaska. I has great fill but OP was asking about max weight to warmth. It is built well probably better than a nano puff or micro puff.
So it is more of a late season sheep or moose jacket. You want warmest jacket for weight I would still go with the Kelvin lite down or the Arcteryx Cerium jacket which is a super warm super light insulator. The Aerolite is interesting in that it feels like the First Lite Encompagne 1.o but with...
It is super lite. It uses the silicon aerogel with the primaloft gold. It has a general release planned for July 19th. It is a nice early season option. The new Kelvin WS with down and primaloft looks like a winner even if it is a little heavy. I think that it will be a great later season...
Don't think that you can use them to walk up a drainage to them. The best way to use them is to approach them from same level on the mountain. You have to go slower than you do with sheep but it should work. Old timers used to use white sheets when goats were moving towards a water source or...
