    Form struck someone’s nerve

I meant his attitude towards new information. I don't need to have taken a class from him to see how he's treating this topic when it challenges what he thinks he knows. Side note: while I am less interested in his classes now that Phillip Velayo left, I bet they're still fantastic. He brought...

    Form struck someone’s nerve

I think Caylen went off half-cocked on the issue based on information his Leupold friend gave him. Now he's just doubling down because it would take a lot of humility to admit he's not a font of information on this topic. It tells me what kind of teacher he is, in a way. Some control their ego...

    Form struck someone’s nerve

I don't think a single one of those people wants to have any conversation with Ryan or Form. Let alone a recorded one.

    Form struck someone’s nerve

That's all well and good but "science-based" gets thrown around too much as a way to legitimize opinions. I do not think JVB is taking an actual "science-based" approach to all this.

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

Caylen and JVB both bashing the testing within days of each other is interesting. Wonder what inspired them to speak out at roughly the same time.

    Form struck someone’s nerve

"fact and science based opinion" Man I just don't think you know what those words mean.

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

The simplest explanation is he thought he'd talk about it off the cuff without looking into it and now it would be too embarrassing to admit he didn't do his research (or got fed bad information from his Leupold contact). Occam's Razor is just pride in this situation.

    List of drop tested mounts?

Hawkins and Area419 are two ring brands I'd trust as well. Area419's rod guides to prevent uneven torquing are pretty cool.

But we know scopes lose zero. And certain brands do it often. Guys over in the Leupold thread are talking about their scopes being off 4" at 100 yards. And his minimums for the scope being knocked vary. He mentioned if your rifles falls over check your zero. Why do you or he find that acceptable?

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

His attitude towards it is just so depressing and contradictory. He spent like 5-10 minutes talking about how he's using Accuracy International rifles as much as he can moving forward because of their overbuilt reliability. Then for scopes he just doesn't even imagine there's a world where you...

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

I don't think he gets it on a very basic level. A bunch of stuff is popping out to me as I listen to it indicating he fundamentally doesn't understand what's going on and has the worst possible attitude towards it. To be fair he might just be gaslighting to cover for Leupold given his...

    Nightforce Review sort of.

Around 12-14, as low as I can go really. It's not an issue I've run into with my Razor G3 diopter, seems to be that the ATACR one is just odd.

    Nightforce Review sort of.

The 7-35 ATACR I have has a diopter that's just weird to me. It's not broken but I can't seem to spot the difference in clarity in the reticle for a huge range of diopter adjustment. Like a whole turn at least. Not quite sure what to make of that.

    Scope mounting to maintain zero

@Formidilosus I've been hearing more about "wet mounting" scope rings and am curious on your thoughts. 1:15 in this video below mentions it, though I'm not really interested in the guy's entire process. Hawkins and Area419 (as well as Spuhr) recommend wet mounting. It definitely makes sense as...

    Nightforce Review sort of.

I think they say the ATACR glass is coated a bit differently. And as you said, the ATACR uses a longer objective which ends up making things look better. Depends on which ATACR you're thinking of. The 7-35 is the best image quality NF has to offer, especially in that 12-18 magnification range...

    Is it all Leopolds

I think that's kind of unrelated to the topic honestly. You seem to be hinting at their ability to withstand big recoil which is a force that pushes the scope front/back. Whereas the zero-shifts people are talking about are primarily from side-to-side forces. Plus this topic was posted in the...

Scope Suggestions: S&B Polar T96 vs. others

Not in a huge way you'd probably notice honestly. Swarovski has a bogus patent on scopes with over 22 degrees of FOV. They don't enforce it on scopes made with anything other than Schott glass as far as I can tell so that'd be TT, ZCO, and S&B as far as companies I'm familiar with. I think Leica...

Scope Suggestions: S&B Polar T96 vs. others

Guys whose optics opinions I trust say the Steiner T6Xi 3-18x56 is an extremely good low light scope with a freakishly good eyebox. The T6Xi with the MSR2 reticle (if you find it acceptable for hunting) appears to be $1,390 at EO right now for some reason which to me would be my pick under...

    Is it all Leopolds

I don't think durability comes into the mind of 99.9% of scope buyers at least in the US. People generally only care about "glass" from what I've seen. Though that's a dumb word and generally people don't even know what they mean by it.

    Is it all Leopolds

NF "glass" varies too even within product lines. I bought an ATACR 5-25 and returned it because my Razor G3 6-36 had noticeably better image quality and other aspects of "glass". But the 7-35 ATACR I just got is a lot better and I think is regarded as the best image quality in the ATACR line of...
