I’m over 20 kills with ELDM’s. 80 ELDM, 108 ELDM, 147 ELDM, 180 ELDM and 225 ELDM.
Pigs, coyotes, deer, elk, aoudad and probably some other shit too. From 30 yards to 1114 yards.
I have had ZERO WTF moments with them. In all calibers and ranges. They hit, fragment fast, and make nice wound...
I use them a ton more than just big game hunting as well. They are great for a lot of different hunts and every range trip. They are awesome for coyotes and pigs because they're hard to range and constantly moving. Hell I shoot long range squirrels with them too lol.
They're great for most...
Absolutely right about that! The wind inputs aren’t an end all be all by any means. Just something I’ve become accustomed to and enjoy having.
Wouldn’t be a very big deal to not have them. Hell more than half the time at mid range and closer I just hold on the windy side of the vitals and send...
And that is exactly how I describe them and recommend them as well. They are a great standalone bino for the majority of hunters and hunting styles. But for a fair amount of hunters, they’ll feel/see the drawbacks with how/what they hunt.
Without trying to sound all douchey, I’m 100% confident I would see more deer (DEER specifically, elk are easy as **** to see) with a pair of 10 NL’s than a pair of 10 BLR’s.
If glass is priority but still a great calculator and ranging ability, I have to imagine the Leica will be excellent. I probably won’t fork up the cash to test the new one. But even they’re older ones were great at ranging and the image was great as well.
I’m not sure how intuitive it is with...
I’ve had two pairs and my hunting partner has had 2 pairs. We both feel the exact same way about them. We both bought them and sold them. Stuck with our BR4’s for 2023 season. And then re-bought them again for 2024 season. All 4 pairs identical optically (or at least felt that way). Basically it...
My brand new pair of EL Range TA’s wouldn’t range the shady side of a large tree at 1200 yards in perfect conditions.
After I returned them, I was told I should have tried another batter. Of course that didn’t cross my mind, since the battery I put in was brand new lol.
Revic will hit shit...
Yeah I’m just going to keep mine around. It’s unfortunate you had issues with yours. I’m not a fan of the glass either, but they’ve been a great ranging tool for me. Worth keeping for me. But I can’t use them as my main bino for most hunts.
What are you considering testing out next?
I shot a buck bedded, frontal with a 6 PRC and 108 ELDM's at 200 yards. It dropped him on the spot, and then about 5-10 seconds later he awoke, made it to his feet and stumbled down the hill out of sight, which only ended up being about 10 yards. He was still blinking and gasping for air about 2...
Damn! That’s killer speeds with H1000. How long of barrel and are you into pressure at all? (Not judging, just simply asking)
I only took them up to 3200fps with 84.5gr. H1000 out of a 7-300 NMI and 26” barrel
It's it's an 11lb rifle with a muzzle brake. A muzzle brake helps immensely with recoil. But you definitely need ear protection. These shots were also made in the prone position. But I've killed a pile of coyote seated off a bipod with a 10lb 300 Norma Mag Improved and also had zero problem...
