My son, age 11, shoots a 6.5CM with no trouble. I think it is a good combination of power and relatively low recoil for a kid. Congrats to your son on the elk.
Redding Big Boss II press (what I mostly use now)
Probably an RCBS Matchmaster powder dispenser ( I am thinking of upgrading to one from my Hornady LNL)
Redding dies and shell holders
Federal primers
RCBS case lube pad
Tumble in Walnut hulls with rouge
Have a universal decapping die handy.

No doubt a .223 will kill a whitetail with a well placed shot and the right bullet, but in my view it does not leave much room for error. By way of reference, .223 is not a legal deer cartridge in my home state of Virginia. I believe that is true in a number of other states as well. You can...
Cool story. Any rifle can fail. You pay your money and you take your chances. Tikkas generally have a good rep for being solid and accurate out of the box for a very reasonable price. Based on my sample of one, that has been my experience.
Sorry for the OP's trouble. What production...
I have dropped 32 pounds since July 15. I am trying to cut another 8 before I leave for Idaho in a couple of weeks. Key for me is to walk or ruck daily and limit calories.
If you are getting just one, get the 5000. I bought the 7200, and I then got a second, 3600 size bag for it used off this forum. It is very quick to swap. The 3600 is going with me in a couple weeks on on base camp hunt. I have been training with the pack with 40 lbs in it, and I love it...
Somebody should dime this guy out to the FAA. Whoever was flying the helicopter might very well have his certificates suspended or revoked for those kind of antics.
If you really want a blued pump gun, I'd go either a vintage 870 Wingmaster or a Browning BPS. The Goat of pump shotguns is a Winchester model 12 if you can find a nice one for a price you can live with. I have a nice 16 ga model myself, although it rarely leaves the safe. I usually hunt with...
I have tried the Diamond D Guide;s Choice, and I have three for different guns. It is a nice rig that works well. But it takes up the same real estate where I want to carry my binos. I have tried carrying the pistol on my pack hip belt. A Wilderness Tactical Products Safe Packer works well...
I have done two previous ID elk hunts wearing Irish Setter Elk Trackers, which worked fine and are very well broken for my feet. I wanted to bring a second pair of boots this year, so I bought a pair of Crispi Briksdal PRO SF GTX boots on sale at Black Ovis. They are failry rigid like the Elk...
You are correct. In my defense there is nothing about MURS on any of the amateur license tests that I recall. There is also plenty that I studied for on that extra exam that I have since forgotten.
In any event, MURS is a strong choice and no license required.
