Leap frog for me. Why?
I mark spots with windy ridges, cool bottoms, creeks, or even culverts. Some of the culverts have water running though but the sides are dry. I can put the meat inside the culvert protecting it from predators and heat. The water cools the metal down but the metal is dry...
Great post! Looks like a fun trip. You clearly have your gear and your body dialed.
I do like the fact that you didn’t say you were “running” a Helinox chair in the backcountry. That would seem contrary to your entire post. 🤣
Solo hunter. Always gutless, like described in many of the posts but I take the guts out at the end… not just for the heart and liver but because I think it draws the animals to the carcass faster and they are more likely to leave my meat bags alone as I leap frog meat bags. I feel like it buys...
If the bleeders are fixed, how does that allow the main blades to pivot?
And won’t the bleeder blades need sharpened after practicing them since they are fixed?
Much more comfortable sleep for sure. Just remember that the R rating is based on it fully
Inflated. Less than full is a lower R value, which is why you should get a high R value pad. More versatile. Always easier to cool down than warm up.
They are totally worth it. Mine has the LED light, blows up a pad multiple times without getting breath condensation in the pad, and starts a fire like nobody’s business. I can get a full size wall tent stove roaring in less than 30 seconds with this pump. They are legit.
Revising this thread…
@mcseal2 - wasn’t sure on your timeline of building one or if you had started yet and what you found? I tried to get onto the wilderness innovation site, but it looks like their website is hacked and the response time for emails and orders don’t seem very good. I really...
I use a NeoAir XTherm year round. Whether August archery or November rifle. Quilt can be buttoned down or opened up in early season. Tent, tipi, or tarp can be vented for airflow. At base camp, you can add a blanket under or over system. When back packing I also supplement with down jacket and...
Nothing will beat a proper jig and then using various grits of sandpaper or ceramic stones, followed by metal buffing compound on cardboard or even a leather strop. They should be hair popping sharp and aside from shop placement, it makes all the difference in the world.
I would recommend a KME...
All great advice. Take advantage of windy ridges, creek bottoms, and culverts. If doing any preseason scouting, especially in new areas, I will constantly be on the lookout for meat drop spots. Creeks, cool bottoms, etc. it’s amazing how much lower the temp can be in these areas. Windy ridges...
I wouldn’t accept those marks after paying that kind money. I would have them send you a new one. Who’s to say the gouge in the middle won’t crack in the future and probably at the worst time possible.
