.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I’m more interested at this point in seeing what various 55gr-65gr billets do to deer at up to 300 yards.

How many people are happy with their Howa Mini?

You can still purchase the Gen 1 Ruger American Ranch.

How many people are happy with their Howa Mini?

The factory plastic stock is 100% perfectly serviceable. Not what I would call beautiful, but she gets the job done. ✅

How many people are happy with their Howa Mini?

The reason I went with the Howa Mini Carbon Stalker in 223 was because it was under 6lbs with scope and mounts.

How many people are happy with their Howa Mini?

I have two; one 6.5 Grendel with the heavier contour 20” barrel and plastic black stock. The other is a 223 Carbon Stalker with a 22” sporter contour. I thought that the plastic box magazine functioned really well, but I purchased the Jefferson Outdoors bdl style bottom for the Grendel. I like...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I bought a Ruger Mark II 223 with a 1:12” twist. I have accumulated a few different brands of factory ammo that I plan on going deer hunting with. The Hornady 55gr soft points may get first crack, or maybe the 60gr Hornady Interlocks American Whitetail ammo that sells exclusively through Academy...

What to do with a pre war Model 70 Winchester

Take this rifle to a gunsmith and have it drilled and tapped for a good scope. Then maybe find a gloss 3-9x Leupold and it will still be traditional in appearance, but more useful. I see gloss Leupold scopes for sale all the time on EBay and the classifieds on 24hourcampfire. Congratulations on...

    Classic Model 70 Cartridge

I would get it changed to 7mm REM Magnum with a 24” Remington Mag Sporter contour from Hart. http://hartbarrels.com/barrel-blanks/

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

For anyone looking for a very inexpensive option to shoot 223 or 5.56 with a 1:7” twist, Rossi’s newest single shot will soon be available in 5.56: https://rossiusa.com/rifles/single-shot-rifles/413-lwc-556-45mm-black

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I lost one once while shooting a 308. It happens.

    Tikka T3x 30-06 - what 6 or 6.5 ?

If a 22” barrel 30-06 shoots a 150gr at 2925fps, an 18” barrel is likely to do 2800-2850fps. No big deal there. As the 7mm PRC shooters say, an easy correction in the elevation turret! Lol 😆

    Monos and the 243.

I have used the 85gr TSX and it worked great. I couldn’t imagine the 80gr TTSX working any better. Maybe at lower velocity the tip helps push the bullet to expand more reliably. My shots were 2500-2700 mostly.

$3K what 7mm PRC are you buying?

    I think I’d go Waypoint

Nice work and congratulations to your daughter It looks like she put it right on the shoulder. Did the bullet exit?

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I’m glad that we’ve finally gotten back on track of refuting and proving the merits of the 223 Rem. The Talley/Leupold quality needs its own separate thread.

Why so many fat steel barrels and so few sporters?

Call Hart. He probably has plenty of sporters.

    Tikka T3x lite bullets .308

Easy…Game King 150gr No need to load them hot. 2675-2800 launch speed is plenty.

    6mm prc

Capacity difference isn’t an issue, pressure on a 270 case isn’t an issue, and building a hunting rifle onto a long action also isn’t an issue.
