    Overthinking Bullet construction on Elk

Seems peculiar that Hornady loads 200 gr ELD-X ammo for the 300 Win Mag, but not the 300 PRC. Kind of a pisser. Whatever, I roll my own, but just sayin...

    Reloading Bench Pics! Post Yours!

Must say, lot of great (and clean) work spaces in these pages. What a luxury that must be. All I have is an over-stuffed garage with hardly enough room to walk in, much less work in. Clean? Ha! My wife is starting to nag me about moving (Idaho beckons) so if that happens I'll look with an...

    Overthinking Bullet construction on Elk

Which kind of AccuBond did you test? There are significant ballistic and terminal performance differences between the regular and long range AccuBonds.

    Your opinion?

    Follow-up: decided on the re-bore option (308 to 358).

6.5prc bullet of choice in 20” barrel

Since you're already in the Hornady club the 143 g ELD-X gets the job done, but sounds like you're looking more for an InterLock in which case the 140 might do (with inferior ballistics). My personal choice given your desires would be the Nosler 142 g AccuBond, especially if you're trying to...

    6.5 PRC and 7mm PRC

Yes. Exactly. And honestly, I think the 7PRC is awesome. If I was a newbie looking for a first rifle, the 7PRC would be a dang near perfect choice, far better than the 6.8 Western given the PRC's increasing popularity compared to the Western's fizzle, and certainly better than the belted 7RM...

Washington State - best areas near Seattle?

Washington's gas prices are severely impacted by Governor Inslee's pet carbon tax. Those living in Washington will have an opportunity on the Fall ballot to vote it out and eliminate that cost, but given the track record of voters in Washington...

Washington State - best areas near Seattle?

Bottom line is that there is no such thing as a perfect state. But clearly, when you look at the three west coast states and the ding dongs driving them into the ground, it doesn't take a genius to realize some states are less perfect than others.

Washington State - best areas near Seattle?

You're right about Star. Cops are notorious in that 25 zone, and being their own jurisdiction not much you can do about that. The difference I had in mind was more freeways than connecting highways, but you made a good point for the Star-to-Eagle highway.

    Your opinion?

Got to looking at that rifle more closely. Curious thing about it: has a front sling mount, but the rear sling mount appears to have a white dot over it (ivory?). For a rifle that is said to have only been test fired that seems rather curious. Is single point sling mount a thing with bolt...

Velociradar vs. Labradar LX vs. Garmin Xero

Ha! Yeah, brand fandom is definitely a thing, at least until your brand goes titsup (looking at you Remington). When you think about it logically, being a brand fanboy is illogical. Look at it this way: when you choose a product based on brand loyalty, the consequence is you've shut down...

Washington State - best areas near Seattle?

If traffic is your primary concern then Boise is the only major western city I know of that is actually building for tomorrow instead of yesterday. The transportation department in Oregon has been an abysmal failure. I grew up in Portland and even as a kid I couldn't understand why I-5 had...

Washington State - best areas near Seattle?

The terrible commuting around Seattle is bad enough, but the state is now imposing a maximum $15 charge every time you drive 405. Their tolls just keep continually increasing on Seattle area freeways and bridges. The powers that be seem to enjoy bestowing a lot of pain on those that elect...

Velociradar vs. Labradar LX vs. Garmin Xero

Sounds like you'll be receiving confirmation from Caldwell anyway, but yes, the Velociradar using chirp radar will track arrows same as it can track bullets.

    Your opinion?

Guilty. Made my own 300 PRC. Accurate as can be, but sure a lot more than I bargained for in the beginning. Would I do it again? Not thrilled to do it again, but glad I did it at least one time for the experience.

    Your opinion?

Ha! I think I saw that one, or at least one like it. The one I saw was over $6k, which rather blew me away.

    Your opinion?

Dang! That is tempting. Not stainless, but that rifle looks nice, real nice. Six days left. I'm going to keep this temptation page open. Thanks much for sharing, hadn't seen it before.

    Your opinion?

Thanks for the feedback RS. I did consider that option (though looking at a Ruger Hawkeye Hunter instead of Tikka), but getting a re-bore is unfamiliar territory for me so I wasn't looking at that option too hard. Your thoughts have rekindled the idea so I'll look at that option further. As...

    Your opinion?

Opening the door to the wide world of opinions here to cull your perspectives... I have a BLR stainless in 358 Win. One of my faves, but want to match it with a bolt action. As you probably know, 358 Win rifles are very difficult to find, yet there is a new nothing-special Savage available...

When is using a Prefit barrel the right option

Built mine with a Proof prefit on a Terminus action. Used go/no-go gauges from Pacific Tool to ensure perfect fit. Works wonderfully accurate. Don't have experience with Smith, but prefit (at least that Proof/Terminus combo) works quite well.
