    First Rifle/Scope Purchase for Hunting

Pretty sure the credo 3-9 is like $550 on eurooptic. Assuming the tikka was around $800 it should be within the budget.

Do you take your clothes off to sleep on a backpack hunt?

I have to say that after keeping up with all of the comments, I’m going to change my sleep setup and system. For no good reason really, I’ve been lugging a big 15 degree bag all over Timbuktu almost regardless of conditions. It could be lows in the 40’s and I’ll still bring my dumb 15 degree...

Do you take your clothes off to sleep on a backpack hunt?

Getting dressed inside a sleeping bag sucks. But so does sleeping with clothes on… I’m usually sleeping in my underwear almost regardless of temperature, never get cold. When I do get cold and miserable and hard to wake up however is when it’s time to get out of the bag in the morning. Maybe...

    Maine Moose lottery

Do you have half a plan put together for how you’re going to do it? I could definitely make life a lot easier for you if you are a first timer if you want to take it to the PM’s Edit:in regards to where you are going to camp if you are going to, etc. random questions about the process or area...

    Maine Moose lottery

I’m a resident that hasn’t been drawn in the almost 20 years (with a 4 year hiatus for the Marines where I lost my points because I was stupid) I’ve been applying. These threads hurt 🤣. I’ll be going, most likely, my buddy drew one. But I won’t be behind the gun, I’ll be behind the shotgun...

IDFG Investigation into Unit 6 Grizzly Shooting

Perhaps. Maybe they *really* wanted a cinnamon bear and because of that maybe let the obviously bigger blackie walk. Is that what you’re saying?

    Bow Hunters….

Agreed 100%, here’s to hoping I age in a similarly spectacular way. We both know he doesn’t even need 60# to kill stuff, and I’m sure that’s what he will be pulling eventually, and maybe even less. Which is fine, kids/women kill stuff with 45lb compounds and even shorter draw lengths every year...

    Bow Hunters….

I’m 29, but my dad (who refuses to make a Rokslide account even though I know he would enjoy it) is 67 this year and still bowhunt a ton. He does pick up the rifle when allowed, though. But he’s always done that. He’s shooting an RX8 at… 80 😳 pounds. But he’s a little frenchman that’s built...

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

Check the clock, he’s into the old fashioneds again. I think he’s an angry drunk.

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

This very quickly went from “goodness gracious what is this guy on” when I opened it at 5:00 this morning to the funniest stuff I have seen in a while the last couple pages. Thank you to everyone involved for the good laughs. Whoever the mod is that kept the FNG going past 100 is my hero.

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

I see what you’re saying, but what if on *the* hunting forum on the internet “so and so” and a couple others say unit “X” is awesome and them and their buddies pull 10 big bulls out of there every year and hardly ever see another hunter, “oh yeah, and you can’t throw a rock without hitting a...

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

Right, but before they rule change (I’m assuming because I haven’t been around here forever) they DID get info, and never contributed or returned. With the rules the way they are, they aren’t able to get the info. That’s the point.

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

I think when referencing “property rights” they were referencing ownership and management of this site, not anyone’s land. Basically, “they own it, they can do what they want with it”.

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

To be fair, I used the word “butthurt” because the post that I was replying to used the word “butthurt” in saying that the people replying negatively to you were “butthurt”. All I was saying is, your OP was negative about the site on multiple accounts, and everyone else followed suit with...

Ahh dang. I thought I was the only one the hunted there. You should see the monster I pulled out of there in 2018.

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

Respecfully, it’s hard to comment in a constructive way when the OP is so obviously butthurt and whining. Also, judging from the time it was posted, the OP was likely the result of a couple-too-many old fashioned’s after work. Give butthurt, receive butthurt. OP could have questioned the rule...

Ooh ooh, I’ll give you mine! I’ll give you the last 4 of my social and my old ladies phone number while I’m at it. Oh yeah, her favorite drink is a Moscow mule, remember that.

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

Do you know how the internet works? This stuff is out here *forever*. I wholeheartedly agree with the rule. There are a lot of tools in the tool box, drive up on a long weekend to camp and scout, call a wildlife officer in the area, and if you are really lost, hire a guide. This is how it worked...

What to do with the meat foreign hunter in Wyoming, Idaho and Colorado. Need meat cutters and places to donate

I feel very similarly as well. I’m happy for him, it’s going to be an awesome trip, but at the same time it’s “ehh”. But I wish him good luck and hope that everything works out. After all, how else do you hunt here if you are foreign? On that note not to start a conversation on the matter I...
