Anybody experience “Christmas Toes” what did you do?

I’ve had the outsides of both big toes numb since I was in the Marine Corps, it started 12 years ago or so, it has gotten slightly better, but not much. It’s still there. That probably doesn't make you feel any better about it though 🤣.

    Suppressor/trust questions

Have any guns you hardly use anymore and are thinking “I would like to get rid of it and get something else but don’t feel like dealing with the PITA of selling”? I just got another can Monday, traded an old savage 223 bolt gun and a 20 gauge SxS that I hated for it. All I paid was the tax...

Elk Broadhead Suggestions for Low Poundage Archers

Exactly, 50#@ 29” is probably a lot closer in speed to 70# @ 26.5” or 27” than a lot of guys with a short draw would like to admit, and nobody talks about being handicapped at 70# with a 27” draw. Apples to apples comparison? No, but pretty close. I wouldn’t hesitate to send a hand sharpened...

Suppressors - first round impact shift

Ahhh fair enough, the rental rifles. That makes sense. They were never on my radar personally, but im always looking for another one, so I guess it’s a good couple data points to have. Thanks!

Suppressors - first round impact shift

Out of curiosity, with the issues that Ryan and now you have had, why would you purchase so many of them? Assuming of course you didn’t pull the trigger on 9 at once and get a batch approval or keep buying while others were in jail before you found your own accuracy/repeatability issues. Do you...

    Suppressed vs Non-Suppressed Hunting

Aside from the tax stamp and the extra $200 the process is now very close to regular guns. I submitted a form yesterday, it will likely be approved today and I’ll probably pick it up this evening. Most individual form 4’s are approved in 24-48 hours now. Walk in and walk out? No, but two...

Bring sharpener for fixed blade or ditch it for a Havalon?

I understand where you’re coming from. If you’re coming from a regular hunting knife, they are a little more difficult to use because they are laser sharp. I used mine tonight on a WT doe I shot with my bow probably the 20’th critter this havalon has taken apart. No issues, still haven’t cut...

Bring sharpener for fixed blade or ditch it for a Havalon?

Gimmick gadget? Respectfully, have you ever used one? They (and similar scalpel handles) are absolutely the bees knees. I too, also carry a fixed blade and a folder, who’s sole purpose is fire building, general cutting tasks, and a backup if the havalon fails, but for any task requiring...

Bring sharpener for fixed blade or ditch it for a Havalon?

If you go the fixed blade route, this is all you need for a sharpener and they weigh next to nothing and take up very little space. You could pack 10 of these and not notice. https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/collections/dmt/products/dmt-diafold-hardcoat-double-sided-sharpener DMT makes very...

    Suppressed vs Non-Suppressed Hunting

Hahahaha, it’s all good! Strictly educational. Just a fun fact for the day. My 4 month old wasn’t letting me sleep so I had time to write a novel. Yours isn’t the first post I’ve seen on here saying something similarly thinking it was some sort of an internet larper wannabe swat guy term or...

    Suppressed vs Non-Suppressed Hunting

Ear pro is the military designation/slang (at least in the Marines) for hearing protection/ear protection. How much of a nerd do you sound like when you say “hearing protection”? Say it in a nasally voice and you’ll know what I’m talking about. “Before we step off for the range make sure you...

    Port Strike

I don’t have the best opinion of unions, personally. I worked in/around them after highschool and like others have said, I’ve never seen so many people get paid so much to do so little. I couldn’t imagine being a supervisor in a union outfit “hey can you go do xyz” “well, actually the handbook...

Man kills mountain lion with a shovel in Colorado

Could you imagine with the adrenaline going, how hard he must have bashed that thing?

    Suppressed vs Non-Suppressed Hunting

Thanks! Obviously it doesn’t apply in every scenario, for example having a long, crappy hike without a trail through the thick and nasties when your destination is above the treeline where you can see for miles and shoot 1k yards if you wanted to. But (again) generally speaking, if your...

    Suppressed vs Non-Suppressed Hunting

You’re missing the aspect of recoil mitigation and the obvious increase in shootability of just about any rifle you spin them on the end of. That goes a long ways. I am very noticeably more comfortable shooting all of my centerfire rifles suppressed vs bare muzzle, no comparison. As good as a...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

It’s been said before, at least in a roundabout way, but the biggest advantage is the cost to train with/shoot with a 223 vs everything else. 223 is the cheapest rifle ammunition available, in a lot of cases close to 1/2 the price of 243 and similar cartridges. You can buy a case of 223 for...

    Ruffed Grouse as a Newbie

Hahaha fair enough! My way is arguably more fun though, more scenery, burn more diesel fuel though and less calories. Full disclosure, shooting any game species from, on, or across an unpaved road (even moose) is 100% legal in my state. Wouldn’t recommend trying it most other places so YMMV.

    Ruffed Grouse as a Newbie

Boy, ruffed grouse sounds a heck of a lot more difficult elsewhere than it is in my neck of the woods. We just ride logging roads and shoot them out of the roads and ditches 🤣. they are absolutely delicious.

    Suppressed vs Non-Suppressed Hunting

I’m with most of the others in this thread. I won’t shoot or hunt without a suppressor. There’s no reason to. Every aspect of shooting or hunting is better suppressed, not to mention protecting your hearing which is #1. My last two rifles were both shot zero times and never even had an optic or...
