Some gobbling but the dumb things mainly seem to still be with hens so getting them to respond more then once is a challenge. I was 20 yards from a group of gobblers- was walking up to a ridge to call and there they were. If i was faster i probably could have shot one before they ran off

I hear ya although since Im camping and going solo not really interested in sitting in a wet tent or be stuck in my truck if its going to rain all day. Also would be another thing if at the very least if its a wash out you could go sit and hang out at the local bar and talk to locals but you...
that doesnt sound like the best turkey weather for sure! I was able to work something out so I plan to head out Wednesday this week- forecast still calls for rain every single day thru Saturday but hopefully they are scattered and not all day soakers.
Well despite my comments above, I cannot find a forecast that looks decent for the BH next week. lows in the 20's, highs in the 30's and chance to rain/snow pretty much everyday. I'm going to have to eat my tag as I dont want to drive 10 hours and be wet and miserable everyday. I'd go the last...
If you dont like the forecast you see, just keep searching online until you find one that you do. I'm sure next week will be between 0-100 degrees with a 10-90% chance of rain/hail/snow/locusts
All campgrounds are closed thru end of may. You can disperse camp about anywhere you just won’t have electric, water, etc. I’ll be sleeping in my truck wherever I find birds
They are out there. Talked to some guys that just got back and they were on gobbling birds everyday and all tagged out. There are 2million acres...if you dont find them in one area, drive 15 minutes in any direction and try there!
I talked to a SD biologist the other day - summary was pretty much their are birds everywhere in the black hills so you really cant start about anywhere.
Right, hence my 'hopefully'. Im in northern WI- you arent out of the woods for significant snowfall until freaking July. Assuming not a foot drops, snow is awesome to hunt turkeys in- takes all the mystery of figuring out where they have been!
ha pretty much standard procedure for Black Hills. I'm in NW WI and it was a full blown whiteout on Easter this past Sunday. 15 degrees this AM and turkey opener here is tomorrow- I'll need all my late season gear
SD doesnt have any 'shall remain home' order currently. Not sure where you got the info above. SD governor just said the below the other day as well. Obviously that can change but SD is not on shelter in place and I spoke with a SD biologist who noted the season is going on as planned for...
I would really doubt that but who knows. No state has done what you state above - KY requires NR hunters to self quarantine for 14 days but you can still go
