I’ll go out on a limb and guess that guys that have appearance above trigger quality on their rifle buying priority list don’t shoot out barrels. Maybe I’m wrong.
Tikka T3x and a few cans of your favorite color spray paint. T3x stock is not junk, especially if the bar is set by that list.
Pick the best rifle and then make it look how you want. You could probably pay to have a T3x professionally cerakoted for the price of the decent trigger you’re going to...
Depends on budget. If money is no issue, call Brown Precision and see how light they can make one for you. If you have them make you a drop-in, it’s going to probably be significantly more expensive than a Manners or McMillan. However, if this is truly a super light endeavor, an M70 puts you at...
Why you’re looking at optic mounts to cut weight is beyond me. That’s where I’d be going with durability/solidity at all costs; especially for a few ounces. There are numerous threads out there where Talleys have cracked; though many use them without issue. I’d be going steel, and Leupold or...
Boonie Packer Packer strap. Nickel swivels and sewn-in non-slip material. Lightweight for sure and no padding to soak up water, most importantly. If you need padding for tender shoulders or heavy rifles, the Uncle Mike’s slings work.
Tikka’s factory synthetic stock is better (light, stiff, free-floatable, durable, solid ergos...) than any factory synthetic Ive run into. You can upgrade, but you don’t need to for any reason. It’s not the milk jug plastic job found on most other factory synthetic setups.
Just like “upgrading”...
Good call. Can’t see much positive in tripping a rifle that you’ve hunted with for > a decade and lacks any inherent major flaws. What’s it chambered in, as I didn’t see where you posted that, if you did?
Because Remington produced millions of them for dirt cheap, with tolerances sloppy enough to satiate the masses, but require “blueprinting” to satisfy any acceptable gunsmith’s requisite level of precision?
That’s one of many reasons. ADL is going to be lighter, first and foremost.
McMillan is...
Imagine ignoring facts/data and then posting about it. Imagine that.
Looking forward to heading afield myself this year with 77TMK and/or 75ELDM and far more trigger time behind said rifles, year to date, than any hunting season previously. Whitetails beware.
All T3 actions are the same (long) length, regardless of chambering. You’ll not find varying length aftermarket bottom metals, only magazines (and those varying in length only internally).
You say “sufficient“ which makes me think you’re referring to lost muzzle velocity compared to a 22” or 24” barrel... if so, don’t. It’s negligible and completely irrelevant if you’re talking about killing animals. What is more important is the added muzzle blast. Any single rifle shot without...
The Montana stock has the best ergos in the game. T3x’ stock has no peers when it comes to molded stocks. I’ve never met a B&C worth its weight in light beer.
