Best sling for a mountain rifle?

Lightweight. Low cost. Non-slip. Pliable. The sling for super lights. https://www.redi-mag.com/product/packer-strap/ For weightier rifles, with which I like to spread the load out a bit, I do like neoprene based straps from Uncle Mikes as well as the venerable Montana leather sling. The latter...

    Why does my tikka Suck?

Step 1: read this and make sure your scope is mounted correctly. https://www.rokslide.com/forums/threads/scope-mounting-to-maintain-zero.78482/ What’s the optic and mounting system? That’d be where I’d look first. Many scopes are not mounted correctly and fellas are quick to blame other things...

Best bang for your buck deer hunting riffle under 1k

Nothing. Killed more deer at my family camp than any single cartridge (log book goes back three decades and legend doubles that span). A Kentworth W900 will get you to the grocery store and back, too.

Best bang for your buck deer hunting riffle under 1k

What’s with the 30-06 recommendations for deer under 300 yards? Do you guys mail order nudie magazines like old fellas as well? Let me guess... “it worked for my grandpa and it works for me too.”

Best bang for your buck deer hunting riffle under 1k

There has been some grossly inaccurate information posted in this thread. T3x in 6.5 cm. Some guys will bring (and have brought) emotion and feelings in this thread but the T3x in 6.5cm meets your needs to a t and there’s nothing objectively better in your price range with factory ammo in mind.

New Wood Stock Rifle, What Brand?

If I was going to suffer blued steel and a wood stock for under $2k, I’d pre-64 m70 all day.

But what about gawking at projectiles recovered from water-filled milk jugs?

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

(Re: the 105 hpbt) I was surprised. I should specify, it penetrated the near side ribs just fine. 2-3” entry hole after skinning. A few pieces made it into the offside ribs. Nothing to the hide though. I always read that they dug well. I’ll keep shooting them into deer. I have plenty of them and...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Get a little splashy? Semi related, I put a 105 hpbt (saami 243 @ 80 yards) into a 2.5 yo northern Michigan whitetail buck’s ribs on Monday. No shoulder bone or meat - pure broadside ribs. Complete upset on a near side rib and a few small fragments made it to the far ribs. Killed well but left...
