What would cause a rifle to shoot this poorly?

Seems like there’s a lot higher of a likelihood that it’s an optics and or mount issue than anything above. It so often is.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Where is that specified? He references a T3 earlier.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Depends on the magazine. Example: no problem with 88’s out of my standard 223 chambered Montana (Shaen massaged the mag box to feed 88’s loaded to shoulder/boat tail junction and threaded a 1:7” twist Rock barrel). He asked if it was possible and my answer is accurate.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Yes, it’s possible - if your mag box has room and your barrel’s twist will stabilize them.

What 6mm bullet for cougars and wolves?

Just FYI to anyone reading this thread, many guys shoot the 105 HPBT in their factory Rem 700 243 (1:9.25" ROT) barrels with success. That's my projectile of choice out of my factory barreled 700 and it works on whitetails and I'd be what I'd use on elk, too. Form has never led me astray and...

Best AR upper for $600 and under

The OP says 18” and it’s for hunting with low recoil so reason he should suffer any more weight than necessary. Rifle gas should be a given.

Best AR upper for $600 and under

Valerie and nosler would both be mistakes. Here’s your easy button: https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-18-rifle-length-223-wylde-1-7-stainless-steel-15-lightweight-m-lok-upper-with-mbus-sight-set-bcg-ch-5165448415.html Or you can pay more, for less. People that actually shoot these are...

    What should I build?

    Build around a good bullet.

Build vs Buy for us poors

Being poor doesn’t mean you have to be stupid. Bullets are more important than headstamps and it’s not close. Whitetails in Michigan >400 yards? What optics?

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Comically dense interpretation of anything in this entire thread. 10/10

Sold Geissele Super Precision Scope Mount

Selling a barely used Geissele Super Precision Scope Mount. This is a 30mm, 0 moa SOPMOD model in their DDC. Optimized for the Vortex 1-6, it works great with many low power variables; I had the SWFA 1-6HD on it - worked perfectly with the eye relief and mounted forward on the upper's pic slots...

    WTS BCM/Geissele complete AR upper

Selling a complete upper. Purchased these parts a few years back and sent all to ADCO for assembly. Fired less than 100 rounds and has sat in the safe since. Grouped remarkably well for with factory 75 grain Hornady hpbt. Too many in the stable and this is a nice one that needs some use. Scope...

    WTS Kimber 8400 Montana 270wsm

Crazy it lasted that long; all-time stock ergos. Donor price - it'd be coming here if I didn't have a 7wsm of my own. Nice snag.

    7mag or .308 for elk?

    Bullets over headstamps.

    Ultralight 223

In my experience, carrying a few more ounces in optic is actually lighter than a “light scope” with the weight of the doubt about the latter maintaining zero that comes with it. Swfa’s work, both in practice and on the internet, believe it or not. 1-6HD, 3-9HD, and 6x for me.
