Yep. A lot of the aftermarket aics bottom metals for the Tikka t3 try and use 3.715" aics magazines.... MT, redsnake, cdi, atlasworks... Which protrudes under the feed ramp and allows the tip of the rounds to slide under the the feed ramp, and the feed lips require adjustment to make the rounds...
There are heavy factory ammo options in 300 wm, in the 200gr range, that will fit the tikka magazines, that will benefit from a 1-10 twist, . The hornady 200gr ELD-X precision hunter being one of them... The Mountain tactical billet aluminum magazines are a little over 3.38"... Hells canyon...
I'd say without a break, mine is about like a 270 Winchester. If you think about it, you're pushing about the same weight range bullets, at about the same velocity, and nearly identical case capacity..... I'd think he would be fine. Lighter weight bullets / muzzle brake, and recoil is about like...
I would go with the PRC.... Especially if you plan on using heavier weight grain 6.5 ammo, and a shorter barrel. A 20" PRC would still likely outrun an identical 26" creedmoor barrel pushing the same bullet. You'd probably make up velocity you'd loose cutting a long creedmoor barrel down, have a...
You can find the sights at Midwest Gun Works. The Tikka boar hunter was a limited run Cabellas exclusive model that came with them. The boar hunter barrel contour is pretty similar to the heavier fluted sporter contour on the roughtech models. I believe these are the same express sights that...
The two top rifles are Bell and Carlson stocks that I opened up the barrel channels on. The two bottom rifles are in Mesa altitude stocks. Think Mesa changed their name to Pure Precision. The altitude socks are pretty nice & came in at 26oz. The 338 win is in a manners EHT currently, but not...
The trijicon credo hx 2.5-15x42 might be worth a look for the 308. SFP, MOA illuminated reticle, zero stop, good glass. Think they can be had for around $900. I remember someone on here doing durability / drop test on them, and they held up well...
Here's a link to a awesome video of some of the more popular and highly effective muzzle brakes on the market, on a recoil sled with a 300. I've used the T3 terminator on a 300 wsm and it really tamed it down to about a 243/308. And I just ordered a Ti pro break for a 338... But yet to be tested.
Man... I hope you see a quick recovery, and can get back out in the field soon. I'm assuming your tikka is a roughtech fluted model with the factory radial break? The pva jet blast break should be an improvement over the radial break. Most radial breaks direct the gas out at 90 degrees from the...
The factory Tikka roughtech models are a good option in the 6.5 prc. Also the Seekins havak pro hunter line "PH" is pretty much a custom rifle from the factory. I had a Seekins PH in 308 and was pretty happy with it.
223 would be another good option outside of the range of calibers you already have, for a tikka.... Relatively cheap to shoot, fun plinking, and varmints.
Both
308 win and 270wsm have you covered on the close to mid range for deer size game, and some would argue even elk. Instead of filling the gap, you could go bigger. Like 300 wsm in a tikka, but the factory barrels are a bit slow of a twist at 1-11. I found a donor tikka and bought a Proof...
It woud be nice if tikka would speed up their barrel twist on the rest of the 30 caliber rifles. Their newer 300wm rifles are 1-10 twist, the 30-06 and 308 win still come with a 1-11" twist. Seemed anything heavier than about 180gr + bullets in my tikka 30-06 boar hunter wouldn't group as tight...

Another thing to look for on the tikkas, especially in 300wm is the barrel twist. Older models in 300wm are 1-11" twist. Which should be fine up to most 180gr bullets. The newer 300 wm tikka rifles have 1-10" twist, which would stabilize the heavier / longer bullets better, incase...
