Of course it would be a last resort! But it would work. Your point that heavier bullets give better shot angles is well taken. Think I mentioned that! Also mentioned larger caliber give better bullet options. And well aware that smaller calibers with lighter bullet's are easier to shoot well...
Just wonder was it the smaller caliber and placement that failed of simply a small caliber. I firmly believe small caliber's will do the job every time if the shooter does his job every time. But I don't buy into the small caliber hunting as I believe there are better calibers available with...
I don't buy that for one sec. What it is, is shot placement and the ability to make that shot. Without a doubt distruction has a lot to do with it but, there can be to much and to little for the shot taken. Give me a 22 short and I can feed my family deer all year. Give me a 338 mag and probably...
This I like but for one thing. If your gonna be a one gun owner the 308 would work but so would the 6.5 Creedmoor. the 6.5 Creedmoor has less recoil! I used to think a wide range of bullet's was great and 30 cal certainly has that. But finally got it. Thought going in the 100gr bullet in the...
If I were starting over again I doubt I'd really know or understand what I was being told by other's You may be recoil shy and even the 308 might be a bit much. 243 will certainly kill most any deer you will ever find but I'm down on 6mm's for no other reason than I think there's better answers...
Only elk I've shot with a 6.5 was with a 6.5x06 and 140gr Hornady interlock. All bullets exited. range from about 200 yds on one and around 150 on the other two. If I do it again it]ll be with a 140gr Speer Hor Core.
Yes I have. I have said a number of time's that I think the small 22 can do the job but I never encourage someone else to try it unless I'm pretty sure who I'm talking to.
Yes I have. I have said a number of time's that I think the small 22 can do the job but I never encourage someone else to try it unless I'm pretty sure who I'm talking to. Tis thread doesn't seem good to me. Mostly people that want to pound their chest about how good they are.
Can't read it but, I agree smaller caliber's can be better. I say that because many people go out and get some huge magnum to shoot a deer with even though they can't handle the recoil. People like that are better off with a smaller cartridge they can shoot. But at some point the drop down in...
When I shot the 7mm Rem Mag I had trouble with splitting the case head. Found out a problem with magnum case's is they headspace on the belt, not the shoulder. Could be your cases are made to spec but the rifle has a sloppy chamber. At .004" do you feel the shoulder rubbing when you close the...
I think you are probably right but most people don't need to would a dangerous animal to realize they are probably under gunned. Then to there are probably those that do realize it but know how to place the bullet to get it to work. Only problem with that is whet the guy doesn't place the bullet...
Maybe, just maybe he does have a good idea. 223 will kill most anything but, BUT, for most things there are better options. Maybe he's figured that out.
I made pretty good money in my working life but made it driving road trucks. For the most part I was lucky to get home a day or two every few months. I can't imagine a worse life anymore. On the up side, I don't get a great S.S. check but alone anymore and have learned to live on it. Actually...
Sounds like my stepdad. In his youth he was a lifeguard and seen photo of him back then, he was fit. But he went to making money and seemed nothing else mattered. His ting for taking time off and doing something was to go to Las Vegas gambling. In his late 50's when he died and really bad...
