    Arrow speed

Kansas guy here. Been shooting 487 gr. arrows (Victory VAP) at 270ish fps for the last 7-8 years. Hit them broadside, and it puts them down fast. Fast enough shooting it's not a big pin gap, Heavy enough to pass through 99% of the time. Using fixed 3 blades.

Small 6 pointer strut-stomping (not spooked), anyone knows why?

Guessing he smelled something that just wasn't right in his mind, and was reacting to it. I've seen it before, but they usually calmed down after a minute or two.

    Feedback on Whitetail Shot

What craphole state are you hunting in that won't let you go after a wounded deer regardless of the legal method used to track it? If it's legal to use a drone to find it, and have proof like pictures, that it's wounded, it should be legal to go after it and end it's misery.

    Question for the Colorado guys

Thanks guys. I will update more when I have a definite address. OR at least directions. Thanks again all!

    Canadian horseback elk hunt.

Can't recommend one, but can say STAY AWAY from Burnt Lake Outfitters in AB. Had the worst experience with their ineptitude years ago. Bad enough outfitter we left 2 1/2 days early.

    Question for the Colorado guys

Thanks for the input. Now it peaks my interest a bit more again. The guy that owns it lives here in KS, and only goes out there a couple times a year, but he's not a hunter. He's not much help on anything hunting, other than offering land. lol

    Question for the Colorado guys

Well, for what I was hoping for, it sounds like pretty much of a bust. lol Still might be worth getting an exact address and hitting Google Earth for a peek. About a 10 hour drive from here, so was just trying to get some info before I made a scouting trip out there. Thanks for the replies guys!

    Question for the Colorado guys

Lol Thanks for the reply. I know this guy has some crops on the land, but also hit oil on it. Didn't know if there were any mulies, whitetail, or even antelope in that area worth chasing. Figured it was a bit far from anything hilly to see elk.....

    Question for the Colorado guys

Never been to Colorado before, but just got offered some sizeable land to hunt around Greeley CO. Can anyone familiar with that area tell me what I might be able to run across? I appreciate the help!

    New gun thoughts

Finally got it back. Went out to shoot this morning, and was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the recoil was. Just shot some factory 270 gr. Hornady Superformance rounds, and was staying within an inch for groups. Gunsmith had sighted it in already, and said it was a real "kicker". He must...

    Picking powders for multiple calibers

Thanks for the help guys. Ended up with H4350, IMR 4831, and Varget, as that was all available locally. Now I just have to find some primers! lol Think I found a shop about 3 hours away that has some in stock though.

Removing inserts with drill bit, safe arrows to use still?

Should be safe, but in the future, I would screw in a field point, heat it slowly with a torch, then gently pull the insert out with the field point. It will start to wisp smoke when it's ready to pull out. Heat will reverse cyano glues with no arrow damage. If in doubt, just take the 1/2 inch...

Would you buy a Glock 45 to replace G19&20?

Don't own a 19 or 20, but have shot them. Bought a G45. There's just something about them that just makes me shoot better. Like it's truly just an extension of my arm. Everyone I know that has, or has shot one says the same thing. Never shot as good of groups as I do now.

    Picking powders for multiple calibers

Is there enough of a difference between H4831 and IMR 4831 to consider? Was looking at both, as well as the 4350 in each, and seems like IMR has a bit more flexibility and speed. I do like the Short Cut idea Hodgdon has as far as easier powder flow. Not trying for long range target shooting or...

    Picking powders for multiple calibers

Thanks for the input guys. Didn't know Reloader was that rare, and getting more rare. Starting from scratch again, no powder left in stock. Looks like it's back to the reloading tables to search. lol

    Picking powders for multiple calibers

Trying to get set-up for 5 different guns, but wanting to try to keep the powders to just a few at the start. Guns I am going to be loading for, and the bullets: 243 Win 85 gr. 25-06 Rem 102 gr. 270WSM 127 gr. 300WinMag 175 gr. 375 H&H 250-270 gr. The 375 is a model 70 Safari Express...

    New gun thoughts

Been looking at both of those bullets. Barnes always seem to fly good for me in any caliber. Have shot the accubonds a few times, and they fly great as well. Hoping both will fly well in the 375. Harder than hell to find the accubonds though. lol

    New gun thoughts

Well, the new gun already showed up. Win Model 70 Safari Express 375 H&H. Has amazing fit and finish, surprisingly smooth action, good crisp trigger, and some pretty decent wood on it as well. Much better than what I've seen in most factory Winchesters recently. Got it sent off to the gunsmith...

    No USPS gun ship

A little late, but thought I would throw this out as an update. Just got a barrelled action shipped back to me yesterday on UPS. Came from a FFL gunsmith though. I shipped it out to him USPS with no problems at all. Just expensive with the length, and extra insurance. Around $45.
