Good broadhead vid, and why Heat vanes suck

I think it depends on a few things. My experience with four fletch Heat vanes, at the speed I was pushing the arrow, with the size broadhead I had on the arrow, was not a positive one. My father in law and brother in law, with slower setups, really like them.

    Mathews atlas arrow question

RIP TKOs come in at 31" uncut length if I'm not mistaken. If you want arrows you won't cut your finger on the TKOs are probably not your answer. I think Sirius Gemini come in at 32" uncut, which is a similar arrow to the TKO. I'm not aware of any .204 shafts that come 34" uncut besides the Axis.

S125. VA mostly, a couple others if things work out.

Iron Will Std vs. Wide Arrow Flight

I had two different Rage broadheads either completely spin out of the shaft, or mostly spin out of the shaft. each on a whitetail. Never had that happen with any fixed blade. My experience with IW wides is a carbon copy of River rat23's. If I slowed my arrow down some I think it might work...

    Anyone using Zingers?

I tried them once, and at the speed I was pushing the arrow with a fixed blade, they were not enough fletching. My buddy, with a slower arrow and a smaller broadhead, likes them a lot. DIY Sportsman on YouTube did a pretty in-depth review of them a couple of years ago.

Target Panic and Shot Execution in Bowhunting, By Andy May

Agree, good article. I still listen to the podcast Andy did with DIY Sportsman about 3 years ago, still lots of great info in that discussion.

    Rip tko arrows

Other folks may have different experience, but I didn't find the spine consistency of the RIP TKOs to be as good as some other arrows I've used. I'd personally go with the stiffer spine. The 300s are 0.1 gpi difference in weight, so it's not like you're paying a big weight penalty for going...

    3 pin slider set up.

I'm currently in the same dilemma. Spent last year using a 5 pin, and wanted to go back to 3 pin this year. I think I'm going to look at it the same way you look at max point blank range for a gun with the top pin. Elk have a pretty tall vital zone, so I think I'm comfortable with the arrow...

    Gua Sha anyone?

My physical therapist does a more aggressive form of this called scraping. Maybe I wouldn't need the scraping if I did some of this regularly. Scraping isn't the most painful thing I've ever had done to me, but it is not pleasant.

What do you cut inserts with?

Hacksaw and sandpaper for me. I tried a dremel once, worked fine for two inserts, broke the cutting wheel on the third. Lucky I was wearing safety glasses. Mind you, this may well have been more my fault than the dremel's, but hacksaws and hacksaw blades are dirt cheap and cut through...

    Multi pin slider sight

To pile on to the above responses, you'll maximize the distance you get by putting your 60 pin as low in the housing as you can. If you can stand moving your peep sight higher (obviously, not everyone is comfortable with that), it'll help eke out a few more yards too.

    Pelican v730 arrow holder

It's a Vertix. I bought the case for my first fly-to-hunt trip in 2021. Have flown the bow a total of three times now, no issues. The case is pretty stout. It's a typical Pelican case. Not sure how much experience you have with them, I'm active duty military, half the crap we have comes in...

    Pelican v730 arrow holder

I just cut holes out for the fletching and slits for the arrows in the bottom foam piece. It's tight, but I can get 12 arrows in it.

    question for Beast stick users

Been using Hawk sticks for years, but saw the postseason deal they had on Beast sticks and figured I'd try them. Put them together, and I'm really impressed with them... although I definitely understand why there's a market for stealth strips after clanking them around a bit. Just wanted to...

Limb Driven vs Cable Driven rests

I've had both. Chased elk across 3 states with a limb driver. Lots of whitetail and turkey hunting with both. A lot of folks will tell you this is better for this one, that is better for that one, etc. The reality of it, IMO, is that either will be absolutely fine for 99.9% of every hunting...

Sight tips for more elevation ?

I think this is another way of saying what I was going to suggest, which is move the peep sight as high as she can comfortably shoot it.

Anyone used the Crossroad Archery Stabilizers?

I've got one. The main reason I ordered it is because I don't use a sling; I always carry my bow. If you extend the stabilizer, it allows you to carry the bow by the handle, string down, top cam forward, and the stabilizer acts as a brace against the back of your shoulder. That gets tiresome...

What’s you’re draw weight vs Age

47 / 77 lbs on the new string and cables I just put on. I'd like to try a bow with more pull... but not enough to pay for one.

    Good archery target

Agree with K1United. I have thousands of arrows in two different Bulldogs, both still going strong. For broadheads, I'm a fan of my Sevr target.

    .204/BE Rampage Component Recommendation

Haha. In a world where I didn't actually have to do the sanding myself, or wasn't cheap and bought some tool to help, I'd always sand shafts to make a tight fit. If I ever get shafts that are like .005 over sleeve diameter again, I probably will get a tool, because that's a lot of effing...
