    If you could move anywhere?

Judging by these threads (which pop up fairly often), if I lived in Wyoming or Montana I'd be pretty worried ;) I always panic a bit when I see my town mentioned. Really, though, I think being a migratory human has some huge advantages. Don't overlook staying in the midwest, buying property and...

    Trad Kill Thread 2023

Nice. Don't you wish those things were about 40 pounds? Best tasting wild game IMO. FYI, you may want to slide you quiver on further if you can. Looks like it is on the working part of your limbs. Just my opinion, you are obviously shooting fine but it can suck up some of the limb's power.

Leave Elk to find Elk? Or hold your ground?

Don't be dogmatic about it. It is all situational. You can always come back.

    So I got a smoker

Cow head. Need a bigger smoker though. Look up Hank Shaw's cabeza recipe. Makes an amazing taco.

    So I got a smoker

Or, just do the entire head! We raise a few beef cows. Most folks just discard the head. There are pounds and pounds of delicious, rich meat on a cow's head. It's quite rich, so it goes a long way. The cheek is pry the largest single muscle group, but there is a lot on em.

    Best midsize Pickup?

The ecoboosts are robust engines. If you are dead set against Tacomas (did you get the one lemon they made!?) I would probably choose the Ranger. I've actually still got a 20-year old Ranger that I couldn't bear to depart with when I got my F-150. It is still going strong.

    Be careful all

There are some places and types of hunting I just won't do, and people I won't hunt with. I shotgun hunted in Iowa one time. Never again. After that, it was all archery (for more than just the safety issue).

    Archery Corridor Caribou

These guys are being quite soft on you. There's no excuse for not being proficient with your weapon in the conditions you will be hunting in. It seems like you know that you need to work on that. My recommendation is to join an archery course with 3d targets and practice, practice, practice...

    Idaho draw

I don't like the idea of residents buying large blocks of tags for Non-residents, but if it is legal, so be it. I REALLY don't like the idea of residents buying tags for non-residents and profiteering off of it. It effectively raises the cost of a tag, except that extra cost isn't money that is...

    Late onset agriculture

I raise cattle, have fruit trees/grapes, grow a big enough garden to sell produce. Never made a red cent, I don't think ;)

    2023 Traditional Succes thread

Thanks. That was Idaho, btw. I was able to secure a tag for next year (by the skin of my teeth). It is in a new zone I haven't hunted, so back to square one with figuring out the country. Hopefully I can keep the success going. I've been doing pretty good killing them with sticks. Somehow I...

Idaho Fish & Game In-person Tag Sales Strategy

Absolutely. If you can complain here, you can (and should) complain to IDFG. I've hunted Idaho sporadically since 2006. Not that long ago, but my experience this past season almost seems like a world apart from the first hunts in regards to pressure, ATV traffic/abuse, herd dynamics. I got a...

    2023 Traditional Succes thread

Samick Discovery 17" riser with Uukha Gobi limbs. They are the 45# limbs maxed out, so I imagine it is 50-52# or so. Black Eagle Renegade arrows and I used Cutthroat 2-blade broadheads this year (the new S7 ones). I just have a Bear Weatherrest stuck on it. An ILF set-up with Uukhas is an...

    Selway Air Traffic

I've always wondered how many flights/week the various Selway and Frank Church airstrips see. When he packed in they seemed very, very busy.

    Idaho draw

Interesting. It certainly seems like the IDFG office sales likely doubled again this year. The large amount of people that travel to purchase in-person is news to me. I had no idea. Let's be real, most of these tags aren't very good. But, it seems like that the in-person and/or proxy buyer trend...

    Best Low Cost ILF Riser

I've only used the 17". Killed my bull with it this year. What's the deal with the 21? I don't care for how it looks. I will say, I had a limb bolt completely fail on the 17". Bought replacements from 3rivers which seem much more robust.

    Best Low Cost ILF Riser

Lots of good low-cost options these days. I'd throw Samick Discovery in that list.

Is bareshaft tuning a bunch of B.S?

No, it isn't BS but I believe it is often relied on too heavily. Just remember, bareshafts will often lie their butt off to you, which can make you chase your tail for a bit. False indications are common and can have you making adjustments in a completely wrong direction. Ultimately, what...

    Tuning Question

Not a big fan. I have a hell of a time fletching them with a Bitz. Others report no issues.
