It’s not the arrow. It’s you. (Sorry!) Your problem is very, very common among newer trad archers. Form issues lead to bareshafts that are perpetually “weak.” The stiffer arrow becomes a crutch to overcome error.
Why? Usually alignment and/or release, could be torque. Really, you should...
Looks great. I finally purchased an Osage stave, still haven't made a bow with it.
I've been working on a hickory static recurve. It had a blemish in the limb that I became rightfully concerned about. It broke during tillering.
Thanks for sharing. The lack of snow in Northern Montana in January is quite surprising.
I used to do a lot of winter trips in the Boundary Waters/Quetico…I never saw another person. And I mean, not a single one. If you want solitude, winter is a much easier time to find it.
OP, I haven't heard back on your intentions?
Like said, if you already have a 25-yard point-on, just roll with it. No need for a crawl.
Fixed crawl is great for guys with a longer point-on who are trying to bring it closer. But, it shortens your power stroke and effects the strain you apply to...
I am unsure of what you are trying to accomplish. What’s your desired end state?
To be clear, you have a 25-yard point-on with your current set-up (with no crawl?)
Are you trying to get an even closer point-on? (25 yards is already a versatile point-on distance).
We work 48's. I can say I have never witnessed nor heard of any sort of mistake being made due to sleep deprivation. If we have a busy night, we manage our downtime accordingly. You learn quick. The benefit of such a sought-after occupation where hundreds compete for few positions? We get to...
I don't see where you are coming from.
All Western States have non-resident opportunities. There are only so many elk to go around, unfortunately. Preference will always go to residents of the State in question (they have a sense of ownership of the animals, because by law they DO own them)...
There is a strange cult of personality there. Some hunting “personalities” really attract it, I don’t fully grasp it but I certainly find it odd, but I’m not the type to seek out gurus.
It does seem the types that attract it are also deliberately cultivating that status. Hanes and Snyder are...
Yup. Wildlife law has not kept pace with modern realities in regards to wildlife value and how anti-social these acts are. There needs to be legislative change on sentencing standards. Poaching is easier than ever with modern technology, and as financially lucrative as it ever. Current penalties...
A classic, brilliant hunting forum response.
It’s always the folks that don’t understand crap from apple butter when it comes to economics that say trite BS like this.
On the Meateater podcast, Rogan said he hunts private land because he “wants to hunt animals who behave in their natural state.” As if their natural state is a manicured landscape devoid of other human hunters and other predators chasing them.
I just wished he would be honest about it.
Succinctly and accurately stated. I look at these tool bags in contrast to hunting “personalities” of yore and can’t help but feel disgusted when I consider that virtually no one knows who they were.
Jack Whitney had more woodsmanship in his pinky finger than these clowns combined. I bet...
Funny, back “in the day,” Kifaru had a reputation (particularly on Rokslide) as the only legit option for serious backcountry hunters (whatever that means).
I still use my old duplex. My pack bag is no longer made, I believe it was called the high Country or something like that. Basically just...
