I haven't personally verified it but, like you, have heard from reputable competition shooters who have made the observation. It's just my "common sense" theory that a lighter bullet with the same size/length and cross-section profile as a heavier one will be more influenced by the crosswind...
Yeah, the BC factor alone isn't always indicative of drift resistance when you factor in the cross-section size differential from C&C due to the density variation. Unless there's a velocity gain enough to overcome it...
I think the HP size has been fine-tuned a bit for increased reliability. I've played pretty extensively with that particular projo and have never experienced a non-expander. Running it in a Creed right at 3k and a 6.5 Max at 3.5k. A bone hit, twist factor, or flight interference could be a...
He seems to be a fair guy, though I've only played with the 6.5 cal. Those seemed to be close to advertised BC. It'll be interesting see what real testing reveals. I'm glad @28bang is giving the 160 a shot. I'm really interested in seeing the results.
Yeah pricey for sure. That's why I do dual loads. C&C for practice and varmints etc. Just use the expensive Rolls Royce coppers for big game as I've come to appreciate the benefits of terminal performance they offer. That's my way. Not for everyone, I'm sure.
For a step above Barnes, if you don't mind the price, the Copper Rose is a good option. Usually better accuracy and higher velocities in the same weight. Very good terminal performance.

Or if you have enough...
The CE's are designed to break apart - at least some are. Making sure you knew that. I don't mind the de-petaling by design myself, though the CE's seem less reliable in their terminal performance than some in the same class.
Excellent performance and write-up. I like these first-hand accounts with photos. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a great experience with the hunt as well!👍
I have found them to be more consistent in terminal performance than the Barnes, though I've never lost an animal w/the Barnes. The 143 HH in 7mm is a lethal combo. Don't think you'll be disappointed. Sure, other options will work good too, but you got the load running strong - no need to change...
Yo, I just signed up here a few posts ago after being referred here by a friend to follow a rifle build that we were interested in duplicating. Ran across some of this stuff.
We run a lot of different projos. From my personal experience, and some things I've been privy too, there are reviews...
My experience as well. It's always been friendly, accessible, and supportive. I'm a very happy repeat customer of GW's. Have worked & talked with Mike a good bit and personally met Aaron in his office. Have always found them to be down-to-earth and relatable. Smart, yes. I don't feel threatened...
Anxious to hear what you have to say after speaking to GW's. My son is looking to get one of these, so very interested in the load/shooting results. BTW - you buddy sent me here to follow this thread. 😎 You gonna try various projos or just the 156?
