Kids have a ton of trouble putting trigger and hand pressure straight back into the shoulder. Almost all of them. It has to be taught and sometimes they just have to get bigger.
Thanks. Just ordered a cap for my kid and puffy for my wife. Sitka has already been paid for this stuff so that point is moot. I like EuroOptic so I'll help them out. LOL.
Rodeos happen. I listened to the most recent EXO podcast with Form and reflected on how stressors can multiply and cause worse and worse shots.
I'm surprised nobody noticed the bullet fragment I left in the image from my buck above.
I initially took my first shot at the buck about 3 minutes...
That's 7 total with the 6ARC so far. 4 antelope then the three deer. Fricking love this thing. Love everything about it. I could not want for anything different.
I went with the tiny Atlas Pic rail. My Tripods have ball mounts that accept both Arca and Pic so it was perfect. Also works with the...
High double lung on a Muley. This is the entrance. Forgot to take one of the exit but the facia between the ribs and leg muscles on the exit side was an absolute mess so, yeah, it did the job. He ran about 20 yards after this and piled up. 108 ELD-M. 17.5" barrel 6ARC. 270ish yards.
The bullet...
I just held it. Might have taken two people. I can't remember. it was a year ago and I haven't shot an elk yet this year to give recent feedback. LOL.
I do remember that I definitely did not have shards. Just dust.
I had zero issues with a recip saw. You should not have bone shards. Just dust. Use a finer cut blade. Stainless blades are available on Amazon.
I did not freeze mine first. I cut the meat with a sharp knife and then cut the bone with the saw.
I agree with the above that a kid with an actual bino harness might be a mess. The little strap/pack that comes with the Vortex Bantam fits kids perfectly cross body. I am NOT a Vortex fan, but they got those things perfect IMHO.
Why is a 3x scope on a bolt 30-06 an issue in the timber?
Buy a couple of cases of ammo and go practice some offhand shots. That's the only right answer here. A new gun will not solve the issue. Practice solves this issue.
Starting to like this rifle as an option. Sucks that I'm getting so spoiled carrying around my super light Howa 6ARC. Wish they offered a lighter stock option and 6 creed.
For older kids the Maven C1 is absolutely money if you are willing to spend a little more. I bought the one's my older son uses for significantly less than MSRP at some sale or another. Picked up a second set for like $300 on Prime day.
The guy that got one for review that doesn't even know how to use Mils (WTF) says they have zero stops. That's a serious improvement IMHO.
I would not trust a new hunter with a scope without a zero stop.
The hopium from some of you guys is epic. Will you actually trust that they can replace a damaged scope? I wouldn't. Honestly I barely trust the "clicks" on the 6x that I own. Feels like junk.
I want to like the scope but I just don't. I mainly use it to prove to people that they don't need to...
Yeah I bet. Kids break and lose stuff. They also forget to put the lens caps back on and just hang them around their neck to get knocked around. Realistically they really just want to be able to see what you tell them you see. It's rare they are actually finding animals. They just want to be...
For a 7yo go with the Vortex Bantam. Designed for the ocular distance of kids and the 6.5x is significantly easier for them than 8-10x. Much lighter and smaller also.
10x will be extremely hard for a child to find animals in. Perhaps impossible. And then he won't use them.
ROFLMAO!!
The 6x MilQuad is on the discontinued page. Better and better every time I happen across this stuff.
The one on my Tikka 223 just might go up for sale. Could probably buy a new S&B 3-12 with the funds.
