My son (13 yr old) just got his first mule deer tag in NV. He can hunt all 3 weapons seasons. I'm thinking of trying some of these loads out and see if we can get out in September with the muzzleloader before rifle season opens in October.

Day 1 13 mph cross wind right to left with gusts to 20 mph. Aimed a little too far right into the wind.

I think we have just the regular bantam and not the mini, but its been a good gun for my son. He is 12 now and it will probably fit him another year or two.
I wouldn't look past 7mm-08 either. The reduced recoil rounds kick about the same or less than .223 and you can go up to heavier bullets down the road. Both of my kids got these at 12 and I really like the round and how it performs.
Great job and great pictures! I just had my first big game hunt with my daughter at 14 and my son (12) will hopefully draw some tags soon. I have a great time out with them in the wilderness. Always great memories!
I shot an index for the last 10 years on and off just for fun. My son got a bow and needed a release and mine fit him well, so I gave him mine and decided to try a thumb. I found a used Spot Hogg Whipper Snapper on ebay after reading lots of reviews and decided to try it out. I must have been...
It should be no problem. When we hunt out of state, we usually try to freeze the meat and bring it on the airlines in coolers. Just start butchering it as it thaws.
Great video and congrats on the two great bucks. This was our first year hunting pronghorn and it is my favorite hunting so far. Quick decisions and things happen fast. Great job!
I was able to put a stalk on a 340” bull on my muzzleloader hunt last year. We dropped the distance from 700 yards down to 250. The wind changed and the 30 cows that were bedded on the hillside got up and he followed them never to be seen again. It was a rush, but man I wanted that bull.
