Rangefinding Binos - Leica or GPO?

I have the Geovid-R 10x42. Can’t say enough good things about them. I have also heard good things about the Meoptas but have not looked thru them.

Monarch HG vs Geovid R - Rethinking “near-alpha” binos

As a follow up - the Binos are back from Leica and look immaculate. Hope to get them out a bit more this week. The process to/from Leica was painless.

Meopta Optika LR VS Leica Geovid R Binoculars, Matt Cashell

Excellent article @Matt Cashell! Confirmation bias is real - but I am really happy with my Geovid-Rs. Optically, they are quite good, as you highlighted. I appreciate the data on the Meoptas as well - thank you.

Monarch HG vs Geovid R - Rethinking “near-alpha” binos

This worked like a champ. Took a bit of getting used to - but, as you stated, I prefer this method now. Added bonus, it seems to be faster. Of note - I tried this technique on a recent SLC purchase and prefer your method the SLCs as well. Thank you again.

    True sleeper optics

just want to add two things. 1. Older porros offer some awesome views, but at heavier and often a less elegant form factor. 2. This thread rocks.

Monarch HG vs Geovid R - Rethinking “near-alpha” binos

Awesome comments. The eyecups and getting them “right” has been my greatest challenge with the Geovid-R… it’s sorted now. Other that that, with the eyecups sorted - I really like the view of my 10x42s. They compare favorably with my EDGs and LX Ls - good stuff.

Monarch HG vs Geovid R - Rethinking “near-alpha” binos

Yes. This is sometime an issue with other similar display types, such as HUDs in aircraft, iron sights, or Aimpoint type sights. It is a mental game of “seeing thru” the display onto the object of interest. The best example of a fix is similar to rifle sights and the “focus on the front...

Monarch HG vs Geovid R - Rethinking “near-alpha” binos

I spent some time today comparing them to my Nikons. For a comparison sake, the benchmark(s) were 10x Nikon LX L (HG predecessor) and EDG. In my Geovid-R example: When viewing close objects, the depth of field was a bit more restrictive on the Geovids than Nikons, yet at range 300m+ I...

Monarch HG vs Geovid R - Rethinking “near-alpha” binos

My Geovid-Rs showed up today. Initial impression - really nice optics, simple/intuitive user interface. They are every bit of ~34oz (feel a little chunky) compared to smaller 10x42s. Only gripe - I’m not 100% in love with the eyecups compared to the upper tier Nikon offerings (Premier, HG...
