Kenai Chest Holster Review, by Rokslide Member Luke Johson

rodney482: I haven't had any trouble with running a bino harness while running a chest holster. It's just that some bino harnesses may require a bit more fiddling and fine tuning to get them to ride correctly.

Kenai Chest Holster Review, by Rokslide Member Luke Johson

Superkodiak38: you will find yourself at times, using the support hand to press the holster to your chest, when you are attempting to be stealthy. But if you have the harness adjusted correctly, all you need is a quick jerk with your pistol hand and you are in action. Thanks for the read. ;)

    Tanya's 2015 elk hunt

Huh...that scenario sounds very familiar....Ryan and I must have the same communication skills with our wives, when it comes to explaining the difficulty of the upcoming hike...or your understanding of "we have to climb a mountain" is different than ours. :)

    Tanya's 2015 elk hunt

Yeah...I try to be open minded...but I can't help thinking violent thoughts whenever I hear or see an ATV. Apparently not everyone enjoys the outdoors the same was as I do?! WTFITLTH? LOL. Keep it up kids.

    Tanya's 2015 elk hunt

HA! I just tried to call Ryan's cell phone...thinking that you guys were already back home! Well, I guess now I know that Tanya has yet to pull the trigger and that I didn't miss any of the shenanigans! I wish that I could be there. Have fun and be safe. Have fun with the boys, Tanya. ;)

    Wolf Hunting

I've been out once and got snubbed by backcountry snowmobilers. The trappers and guys running snowmobilers are the ones cleaning up at the moment. I'm going to try to get out this Saturday afternoon and try a different section of the same area. I'm hoping to get some access via snowsnows....and...

My first AK trip: DIY caribou hunt.

Yeah, actually Mike from Captivate Outdoors offered to help line me out. He did suggest flying out of Deadhorse and being dropped. I'm starting to see that about the rental companies not being keen on you driving their rigs on the Haul Road...this might propose a problem; since we plan to fly up...

How much do you worry about black bears in the backcountry?

I've only had them run towards me once; and that was two cubs that I didn't realize were there when I went after their mom, which was a large sow. They must have been confused...maybe couldn't see me well. I had to hit one with a stick from 15 yards before they put the breaks on! I wish I would...

My first AK trip: DIY caribou hunt.

Thanks for the input, arcticman! We had planned to set up camp...but with all the "traffic"; I'm kind of worried about leaving the rig alongside of the highway. And not ever being up in AK; I have no idea what to expect or how to go about things. I would like to hire a plan and be dropped...

My first AK trip: DIY caribou hunt.

I've been wanting to head North for quite awhile now; I finally got tired of "wishing" and started doing! My best friend and I are going to do a "Haul Road" hunt in late August/early September. If you've already done this hunt...any words of wisdom you'd like to pass along? I appreciate any...

    What bow are you shooting?

I just had a 63# Toelke Whip built for me; a few months back. LOVE it! I had him build me a two piece takedown....yep, it will be coming along with me on my Dalton Road hunt this summer!

    just so theres a thread

Man; I would love to tag a Bobcat! There are quite a few in my area...I've seen their tracks in mine or have just seen their tracks, but have never seen one out in the open. I really want to try caling one in; I know where a specific one likes to hang out. I've seen his tracks a bunch and caught...

    Where do you camp?

When I first starting hunting elk (a whopping 6 seasons ago!) We used to camp lower down and then race to the top of the mountain in an effort to beat them to the top and camp "away" from them. Well; most generally we'd end up with elk in and out of our camp all night long...and then would have...

    Kifaru Paratarp Giveaway!

That's awesome.....I used "that" camo tarp one time on an elk hunt....I had a Raccoon visit me one night...and then some sort of flippin' bird (I have no idea what it was) that bugged the crap out of me every night for a few nights just after dark....after the weeks was up; I could have sworn...

    Kifaru Paratarp Giveaway!

All great pics guys! Here is a pic taken during my very first solo multi-day backcountry trip. I was hunting for Black Bear and Mule Deer. This was one heck of a learning experience, I tell you what! Even though I "thought" I was thoroughly prepared...I missed one important detail: a certain...
