Apply and go hunt. You can't draw unless you apply. Tags are not easy to draw as a non resident, and the limited entry tags take a bunch of years to draw(LE). so does the general season tags. Start building points. So, hopefully in the near future the deer will rebound.
Ok to both of you. I thought RL19 was suppose to be good to for the 270, that is why I purchased it previously. I also thought CCI200;s would also be great in the 270 casing. My goal was suppose to reload CCI200 and RL200 for 270 and CCI250 and RL22 for 300 win mag. Must have had bad info...
Getting into reloading and 5-7 years ago I purchased 5 pounds Reloader 19 and CCI 200 primers for my 270. Since then, I bought Nosler ballistic tips 130 grain to shoot out of it. Also Bought 5 pounds of Reloader 22 and CCI 250 large magnum primers and Accurbond 180 grain bullets for my 300 Win...
I had the early season tag and not overly impressed with the amount of deer I saw. I did see 7 bucks in one group and 3 of them were shooters. Following day it snowed 2-3 inches and the clouds blocked the mountains out. Never saw them again. There was water everywhere. For the first time in...
I hunted this unit last year for a little bit until I hurt my back and had to cut it short. Its hell getting old. Never got to see much of it and never saw any deer. Got another tag this year and will probably try Home canyon again. Anyone have any other areas that they would be willing to...
A place I always saw doe was at Angel Lake. Camp in the campground at the bottom of the hill, drive up everyday, park in the first parking lot you come to and hit the trailhead to the north.
These web sites are getting bad with negative feedback. If no comment just say it. I have hunted the Ruby's allot. First of all, what physical shape are you in? The Ruby's are tough. Most of the deer will be in the upper reaches of the mountain. When I first started hunting there I...
I had the tag last year and hunted 241 and 242 mostly. There was plenty of water everywhere. Cameras are pulled by August 1st, I believe. During my hunt it was really cold so take the required items to stay warm. I wasn't successful, I missed, wish I could get the tag again. Really couldn't...
I know, I returned a tag last year for a hunt that I had overlapping hunts in different state and lost the money to keep my points. Pretty expansive gesture if I do it again this year. Anyone know of any ranches that offer self guided hunts?
I was so happy when I saw a C/C hit for $401 for a mule deer tag. Research the unit before applying and had enough points to get the tag. Then after I saw my receipt from CDOW I could hardly go to sleep, so angry at my self for a mistake I have never made in applying after 25 years out west...
First, what type hunting are you expecting to do? If its backpacking in then this is your best bet. With the temperatures being so warm at that time all the bucks will be up high and in bachelor groups. Secret pass has two sides to the mountain. The 102 side is straight up but rewarding with...
