I like the Black Diamond poles with flick locks. I'd recommend to steer clear of poles that twist lock as they seem to work loose then collapse on you when you aren't expecting it....
Trekking poles?
Snug leather gloves (like roping gloves) good for going through club, and for when you go in 4-wheel drive.
Where and with which outfit are you going?
I have only used either a Bushnell elite 14-45x60 or a friends Ziess 15-45x65 and generally found I needed to be around 300 yards or less to count rings confidently. One time I could age one at 600 yards, but it was raining and the ram had light coloured horns. With the wet weather the rings...
I’d suggest the Cabela’s Meindl Alaskan Hunter (the tall ones), or similar offering from Lowa, Kinnetrek, etc. A boot with good support for long days hiking but not as rigid as a mountaineering boot like Scarpa. Waterproof with Goretex or similar product.

A nice puffy coat, good rain gear, trekking poles, book or card game (we took a cribbage board to help pass the foggy/rainy weather), and single cup coffee filters!
Oh - and tough partners who don't whine, bitch or complain even when under heavy loads on a long pack out :)
