I'm 6'4", 38" waist, 34" inseam, long torso....I like the Seek Outside 28" frame. Loaded heavy (>100lbs) in the pics below you can see there is still lift in those Load Lifters:
I have a Seek Outside Revelation and the hip belt, harness and frame are better than the Pop UP 28 for loads above 60lbs in my opinion.
The Pop Up is great at 50lbs, I used mine for training at that with a sand bag. I used the PU 28 to pack out a 3x4 mulie buck that I cut in half. Each load...
I left a camera out since Nov on a moose trail. Waiting until around the end of April for snow to melt enough to get back in there for the retrieval. It's an old Primos Truth cam that takes DD. I'm interested to see how it made out.
Have only run the Promaster for 1 season, but like the lighter weight and warmer on the hands than the aluminum Manfrotto one I ran for the last 11 years.
If you are worried about collapsing....On one hunt I had a twist lock on my trekking pole break. I taped below the joint and then over the join with duct tape. No amount of weight would cause it to slip. Not easy to adjust obviously, but would work for set it & forget it.

What about a pair of binoculars? Something light and small like an 8x30? Usable now and as an adult as back up, tree stand, timber, archery stalking bino....

awildswanger - BC and the other provinces do require a guide/outfitter. Here in BC they are one of the cheapest outfitted...
I started on a 2x42 craftsman, then built a 2x72 with a 1hp motor. You don't need to grind on the wheel unless you want to do hollow grinds. Lots can be done on the flat platen or slack belt. The guards are usually in the way for knife grinding. Supergrit carried ceramic belts in 2x42.
