I appreciate the input jwb300, I have a feeling I'll end up with the 15x before too long. However, talked with the guys at Outdoorsmans and decided to go with the 12x 50 EL. Unfortunately they won't be able to have the stud installed for the tripod mount in time for my hunt (last minute...
I know there have been a few discussions in regards to these options but I'm hoping for some new/additional insight....
My current set up is Conquest HD 10x42 and the small Vortex Razor spotter. I will be buying either one of these swaros but can't decide if I want to just add the 15x to the...
I used mine as my quilt during my week long early season archery blacktail in CA. Lows were mid 40s and worked great. Used it a few weeks ago during a fishing trip when the needle dipped below freezing...I was cold even with my base layers on....it's only motivated me to buy a doobie. I love it
What tripod are you guys using for 15x binos? I'm using the Summit SS-P for my 10x42s and love it but will it shake too much for a pair of 15x (don't have them yet)? I know everyone loves the Outdoorsmans but if I don't exceed 15x I'm not sure the ultra stability is required like it would be...
I have the Conquest HDs and love em....I have learned to glass with them off a tripod and it's opened my eyes (pun intended)....if I'd have known how instrumental my glass would become I likely would have dropped some more coin. I haven't used better glass on the mountain but if my Conquest HDs...
This is exactly what I run. Once I put the conquest HDs on a tripod I rarely pulled out the spotter. I'll likely get a pair of 15x and then make the decision to keep the spotter or not...I can't glass for any length of time through it. I can barely wink let alone keep an eye closed.
My brand new Katadyn hiker pumped 2.5 gallons (day 2 of 8 day) before the check valve took a crap. I'll never buy another Katadyn product again. I drank stagnant Salamander water
Has anyone tried digging a hole and partially burying an ice chest in an attempt to keep ice longer? My thought was to partially bury it and park the pickup over it to keep bears and thieves away. I will also line the interior with reflective roll insulation.
Any other tips for long term I've...
I did when I lived in California. Western range of the Sierras gets massive snowfall, areas like Blue Canyon see in excess of 200". If I were headed back it wouldn't be a question. A very good investment.
I was thinking of the same phone until I saw that it's exclusively ATT. I've had both and can say at least in CA, CO, WA, OR, ID Verizon hammers ATT in cell coverage especially in the mountains. Something to consider.
That being said, my brother is a stomach sleeper and while I'll be on a Big Agnes Q Core SL (side sleeper) he will use the Z lite in tandem with a lightweight yoga mat we cut in half. The two halves will serve as our butt pads for glassing during the day.
Stay away from dense, moist soil or...
I suffered through a Z lite last year. Believe me when I tell you the weight and investment penalty is worth it to upgrade. I slept so poorly by the 3rd night I was napping in the middle if the day. You must pick your tent location VERY carefully and pray for warm weather. I took it on a...
