WTB Kuiu Icon Pro Hip Belt/suspension

I’d take a full suspension too if no one wants to split with just a hip belt.

    California Hunters? Where you at?

Im gonna pick up my B zone tag this weekend. Im a totally green hunter and joined the site a couple of years ago when I first decided to try and go after deer. I was student teaching and found some bucks in the marbles before the season, then never had the chance to make it back and just went on...

    Worst beer you ever drank?

I am not a beer snob, I drink craft brews but will also drink some high life or PBR. I think the worst beer I’ve ever had is bud ice or room temp 211.

    Stove recommendations for backcountry hunt

Do you mean a cooking stove. I’ve had an inexpensive olicamp stove for maybe 4 or 5 years now. I haven’t used it extensively, but I really like it. If you are just rehydrating meals, it boils water fairly quickly. I’m sure a jetboil would be somewhat quicker. Lighter options are also available...

Anyone headed to the Marbles? (California)

Just got back from a quick two day scouting trip in the marbles. The smoke is nuts! my lungs are a little sore and I was only out there two days. I checked out A couple of areas one near the pct. saw more game there than anywhere else despite the traffic.

Just a quick "what do you use" thread.

Anyone have a factory lead free preference for black bear. Planning to use my .308 with 150 gr Barnes this season, but I have absolutely no experience.

    2018 California Rifle blacktail hunt

Good luck up there! I was at the coffee creek area a few weeks ago. I am a new hunter so can't really comment. I didn't get very far in either. The area is nice, but was pretty crowded. I didn't see any other hikers on the trail, but lots of people in the campgrounds and decent amount of traffic...

Camping in Santa Lucia Wilderness (South A Zone)

Dispersed camping is permitted on most national forest lands. There will often be no overnight camping signs at trailheads because the don't want folks car camping at trail head parking areas. Never hesitate to call or swing by a ranger station.

    Scouting for Blacktail

I backpacked out to little duck lake in the Russian last October. We only saw two day hikers aside from our group and no one else parked at the trail head. Great trout fishing in the lake too. I’m gonna start looking over my topo maps. Anyone ever hunt the Russian?

    most comfortable pad

I got a new klymit insulated static v on camofire a while back to replace my thermarest z lite. I’m a side sleeper and toss and turn a lot and it is super comfortable. It is a bit heavy but for the price and comfort it is totally worth it.

    Scouting for Blacktail

Came back from a pretty unsuccessful trip to the Trinity’s. My fault for poor planning. My wife and I car camped one night and planned to hike up and scout from one of the trails on coffee creek road. I shouldn’t have brought my dog. It was too hot and steep for him and we eventually had to turn...

    Wiggy’s sizing and other recommendations

My bag showed up today. I may return it for a regular because it is pretty wide. I’m gonna think about it for a bit. I am actually impressed with the compressed size. All of the reviews had me expecting it to compress like an old school flannel bag and it’s both that bad at all. I have never...

    Wiggy’s sizing and other recommendations

3lbs is fine. The only thing you'll be missing is stressing about keeping a down bag dry and possibly hypothermia or at least a few bone chilling nights:rolleyes: With synthetic, I've never been in the woods and thought, "Dang I wish I had a down bag that was a pound lighter than my 3lb...
