good to hear! any link on getting an upgraded bracket? I have used a lot of BD headlamps but if the PEAX is better than that, it's worth the money in my book.
I just ordered one based on the youtube video above. i like data and that convinced me. They reached out pretty quickly when i asked about their spare batteries, so I'm guessing i won't have problems with customer service if there are issues going forward.
I really like the snikers bar idea. depending on how much work it took to recover or get to the animal, it's nice to sit, have some water, eat a snack and take a few pictures before getting to work. a few minutes of break time won't slow you down in the long run.

good point on the sleeping bag vs space blanket. I usually set up camp and day hike out so the few grams for a space blanket isn't a concern.
I also put tape on the tripod legs. Easy access. and good call on taping over the boots for stability if needed. all depends on the type of injury.
Thanks for the advice @mtnbound ! Going through those classes does open your eyes to a lot of potential, but you are right, there's plenty of stuff in those NOLS kits I'll never need.
My biggest concerns are cuts and abrasions. So i carry a cut proof glove for field dressing in my kill kit. I...
There will most likely be other weight considerations as i start to put things together. the TQ is going to stay. the rest might go. I have some small scissors on a multi-tool that should do the trick

Good call on the ace bandage. I forgot to add that to the list but I usually have one stashed in my pack somewhere.
not sure on weight just yet. I wants to build the list first, get a few doses of meds in baggies, then weigh everything.
also, after looking at the meds list, I'll probably cut out the dayquill, nyquill, dramamine, and midol.
Good point, I went back and edited this will be for backpack hunting for 1-3 people.
Makes sense on the meds. There are a lot of ifs when i started jotting down meds to take. I will probably find some that kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
I like the duct tape and electrical tape kept on my...
(Edit: for backpack hunting with 1-3 people)
I have been putting a lot of thought into my first aid list and I wanted to see what you all thought. What would you omit and why? What am I missing?
I do have my NOLS WFA cert so a lot of the lit stems from that training.
Not listed is the inReach...
is anyone still running the Peax Backcountry duo headlamp? I'm curious if folks are still happy with them?
