I still haven’t found anything I like as much as my gitzo gto531 with the outdoorsman micro pan head on top. It’s discontinued now but I believe they make essentially the same thing now but with 5 sections so it should be even more compact
Nice looking rig! I would recommend cowboy loads for when you are just playing around with it at the range. That’s what I do with my 329pd and honestly enjoy shooting it with those. My 310 hard cast on the other hand….
Broomd,
I have essentially the same rifle as you (left hand Forbes 20b in 7mm-08) and I had it threaded 1/2x28 and permanently installed a precision armament 1/2-28 to 5/8x24 adaptor for my suppressors. My barrel was cut back to 19 3/4 inches though (not sure why the arbitrary length). No...
I would still put the drain in. They will have to cut a trench through your concrete floor to get to the closest drain pipe but it will be worth it in the long run. It’s not a huge deal to cut through your concrete unless you have heated floors. Then it’s not possible
I was at SCI and was impressed enough I bought one on the spot. Seems like it would be perfect for calling coyotes where I hunt. Shots aren’t typically long but they can come in from many different locations so the ability to move positions quickly is a huge advantage for that. Also looking...
I use an ultra sonic cleaner and pour in a mix of 50/50 purple cleaner and warm water. A few cycles and all the parts to the suppressor are clean including the baffles. I try to clean every 500 rounds. Seems to work well so far and is much safer than “the dip” solution.
Put me in the 270 wsm fan list! Mine is a Tikka t3 I bought in 2009. It’s been through a few stocks and scopes but it’s by far my most used big game rifle and I have a weird amount of faith in it. When the barrel goes I already have a 1-8 twist blank setting here waiting to go!
As far as...
For me the one pack type thing that is always on me is my bino harness. Have I been in a situation where it saved my life, no. But it’s damn handy to have the stuff your really need on your body no matter what (even when Mother Nature calls). Maybe it’s just my version of a security blanket...
I have a 22 hornet barrel for my k-95 and would definitely prefer it be a 1-8 223 if they would ever make that barrel for the k-95.
Negatives for the hornet
- almost non existent ammo
-thin cases that can be a bit difficult to load
- cases stretch and have to be trimmed more often than...
That nightforce 4.5x24 does look pretty nice and I would assume it’s as rugged as physically possible considering its fixed power and a nightforce. I wonder what it’s like in person? Especially in low light with that reticle and tiny objective.
They’re a pain to find but I run a SWFA 3-9 on my left hand Forbes. It’s weighs 4 pounds 10 ounces bare so I would assume similar to the above rifle. It feels fine to me and I just have a lot of confidence in that scope and its reticle in any light. It’s annoying to have to make your own...
Barrel diameter and material doesn’t make a difference in sound to my ears. I have threaded bolt guns and single shots with heavy steel barrels, thin steel barrels and carbon fiber wrapped barrels and can’t hear a difference as long as I’m using the same ammo.
Ammo makes a huge difference and...
