I'm not keen on thumbhole stocks, but that rifle will be a shooter, good deal. Does it come with both stock configurations? Have fun and shoot straight.
Don't think they use much battery power and there is an off position between each intensity level. I was concerned about running out of battery on a hunt and not being able to see the reticle, but it is quite visible without being lit. Green lasts 198 hours and red 68 hours, don't know why the...
That stock is beautiful! I know you said that you were building it to hunt with, but man, I don't think I could bring myself to pack that in the woods. Are you going to checker the stock after finishing, or is the practice checkering for the next stock?
I vote 257 AI for the next build with...
I've got the Credo 3x9 green precision hunter moa and I like it a lot from first impression, still waiting for the rifle that it is going on. Haven't looked through an Accupoint which is about 4 oz lighter due to no electronics. Hunter precision reticle looks like it will be pretty nice in the...
Could you use something like an A-17 NRA smallbore target and shoot three rounds at each bull? Would be easy to determine group size and POI. Just a 10 shot group gets to where you can't determine where the last few shots landed. Know there are down range camera set-ups that will record the...
I'm always glassing in the timber, amazing what you can pull into focus even through a screen of close limbs. As stated follow the game trails which are primarily made by elk because they like to follow in a line. Deer not so much. Benches on north facing slopes, saddles that allow the...
Are there sufficient advantages to have caliber specific end caps for your suppressor? If I have a 30 cal suppressor, is there a noticeable difference in noise between a 30 cal end cap and 6mm cap when shooting a 6 ARC or other 6mm round?
Have both the 223AI and 6 ARC bolt guns suppressed, sound the same pretty much, the 6 ARC will tend to recoil a bit more due to the larger projectile. 6ARC would be better for hunting if you live in a state that regulates 6mm as minimum caliber.
I just did a two-step process with an 8mm expander and then the 338 die with sizing wax in the neck, worked great, no problem. Was tired of waiting for Starline brass to come available.
Hunted a general unit last fall in Wyoming. that was above population objective, either sex and during the rut and saw 3 elk. That is hunting hard for 4 days. Beautiful country and had a fun time seeing a new area, but won't go back there. Couldn't have proven to us that the unit was over...
As a NR I could hunt elk pretty much every year in WY, would more than likely be on a type 4 cow tag, quality experience and can't tell the difference once the meat is in the freezer.
Been to Wyoming 6 times elk hunting with wilderness every time in the units we hunted, did not cause an issue at all that we could not hunt in the wilderness area.
Don't really know what all the complaining is about, Wyoming has one of the least expensive NR elk tag cost in the west. Obviously not talking about the Special, $707 is pretty damn cheap for a NR elk tag, no mortgage required, nor an arm or a leg, just cut out the daily latte and you are...
