I have also found it helps to add a few ounces more of water than the package calls for. The extra time hydrating also seems to make the meals a bit more dry/gummy to my taste.
There are dozens of slightly-varying sizes and shapes of these on Amazon. Here's on similar to what Cannonball posted, that I use:
https://www.amazon.com/HUNTPAL-Rotatable-Shooting-Attachment-Crossbow/dp/B0CNG34WF6
I can't find a good photo in my archives of just the trekking pole with this...
I had recently shot some Powerbelt "Platinum" bullets which do have sort of a chrome-y casing but that was 2 days and 2 cleanings ago. So now I'm self-doubting whether I'm cleaning as well as I think I am. I guess I'll have to pay closer attention to what's on my patches to know for sure...
This.
There is no "best" boot for everyone. I spent a fair bit on some nice Danners that gave me the worst blisters and aching arches I've ever had. For 3 years I hunted in a pair of Dicks-Sporting-Goods-sourced $100 Timberlands and they were amazing, until they fell apart (but hey, for the...
I thought this forum was supposed to be apolitical? Why does it matter how any of us "feels about it?" As others have mentioned, it's a right that was granted at the federal level superseding not only any state involvement but ALSO our opinions. There's so much history and context being omitted...
Have any of y'all seen this? I've been practicing muzzleloader a lot to improve my skill for a planned hunt next year. I shoot a CVA Accura V2 that probably only has 100 shots through it so far. Up until now I've been shooting mostly Powerbelts (hey, I got a good price) in a pretty standard...
Like a lot of others here, I shoot 22LR mostly because of cost. It's a great round for general trigger practice and introducing new (kid) shooters, and has side uses like hunting squirrels. And I have probably all the firearms I would want in a "tiny cartridge" (a pistol and 2 rifles) plus...
Snickers bar is a great idea. I should have mentioned, I do something similar with a bottle of water. I'll open a bottle (so I don't need to remove the cap later), drink about a third, and set the bottle out of the way. Standing in snow this is totally not needed. But dress out an elk at 11am in...
You can also get what I have:
https://muzzle-loaders.com/products/williams-precision-ace-in-the-hole-picatinny-rail-sight-cva-accura-optima-wolf-apex-rifles-679010
This is a picatinny rail with a rear peep. Combined with a front fiber-optic it makes a great, accurate sight option for those of...
I don't have every state memorized - you'd have to check each one. But it shouldn't take long, they're all posted online. Here's the list for CO:
There's a lot of "during muzzleloading seasons" talk because you can use a muzzleloader during Rifle seasons. I don't know why you'd WANT to, but if...
It's not necessary. There are (many) dozens of Youtube videos of folks testing and proving that.
A bullet doesn't make a gas-tight seal in a rifle barrel, and that's definitely true in a muzzleloader. There is some amount of "blow by" gas that escapes around the projectile before it ever...
IMO, material and style (shape) matter way more than brand. I've been using some cheap generics off Amazon for years and only damaged one so far (my fault). I personally like the Y-shaped style, like the MSR Groundhog, in 7075 aluminum. You can get a 12-pack on Amazon for <$10. Just IMO, this is...
Sorry for the photo quality - I was at my camera's max zoom and didn't think to try to shoot through my bino's. Oct 2020, approx 10,100', "somewhere in the Northwest" of Colorado. Follow the bit of horizontal ridgeline across the center and you'll see a male coyote. This one wasn't super large -...
I have one of those. I hate it. YMMV lol. On my 1100 it interfered with the bolt handle. Not sure how well it would work on a stroker, but hey it's cheap...
Trust me, you can. My 1100 was not tapped for a sight. Take a look at this:
https://www.amazon.com/Burris-410681-Speed-Mount-Remington/dp/B00794LGEE
Burris makes a red dot mount that doesn't require a tapped barrel (which a lot of shotguns don't have). It installs via a thin plate. You remove...
I always wash new things, but only for comfort. I do use the "Dead Down Wind" detergent and dryer sheets but honestly I don't think it adds much. I just use it because I bought it years ago thinking it might help, and one bottle lasts a decade if all you wash is your hunt clothes.
You make all...
80 yards is definitely doable. I assume you're talking slugs, so your best bet is going to be rifled slugs (I like Federal's Power-shock but not that I did any ballistic-gel testing with it or anything...). Make sure you take your choke out.
Here is a randomly-Google'd ballistics chart on a...
We travel empty, and only buy ice one packing out for the drive home. Saves weight (and gas mileage) on the drive in, and it's one less thing to melt (or vaporize) and waste money on.
There are a million Walmarts with $3-$4 per 10-20lb bag. It's not like it's hard to find. And if you really...
This year I sprang for a pack of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D62S1UE
They sell a similar product for caulk tubes and they work really well. They're not really "better" than electrical tape but there's no residue and it's easy to carry a few extras. I usually have extra...
Caltopo was originally Web-only (desktop) for a few years but got a big following especially amongst emergency responders like wildfire crews because it had special layers just for that. But like other apps it also had the usual private-property and so on. What I liked about it was it was really...
