    Tripod Adapter- Leupold BX-4 Guides

I just got the pro guides and have an older pair of Leupold Cascades. I also have the outdoorsman setup. Maybe I'm missing something but I think you would have no problem putting the Outdoorsman Stud on those bino's and using them in the AGC chest harness. Best of luck.

    Northwest Montana Elk

If I spent a $1000 on a Non Resident tag I would be looking elsewhere.

    Moving to Dillon, Montana!

Fishing is still good. The biologist was saying 3000 fish per mile in the beaverhead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Moving to Dillon, Montana!

You will Love Dillon. I wasn’t here 30 years ago, but the fishing is great in the slough and surround area. We have lived here for almost 3 years now and like it a lot. Shoot me a PM if you like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Vortex razor Spotting scope 85mm or 65mm?

If your looking to purchase a spotter I would look at the 65mm. I have one and have used mainly on deer hunts here and it works well. Even that feels to heavy and would consider a 50mm. That being said, I generally leave the spotter at home. Do you have a good tripod, head and Bino adapter...

    Montana draw

You'll want to call FWP after the draw is over and find out the date. Make sure you call super early on the day left over tags become available. Last year they sold out. Had some friends that had to hunt another state instead.

Anyone running a Kifaru with no bag, just the cargo panel and pockets?

Newmexican, How does the Barney's compare with the Kifaru for hauling Moose quarters? I have both, hauled more elk with the Kifaru cause that is what is with me. Planning on going to Alaska next year for moose, I know the Barney's frame would work well, but dang that Kifaru is comfortable.

    Thick brush hunting?

Don't be afraid to use all styles of hunting. Glassing, Standing, and Still hunting. Start with the least pressured first (glassing) then use other methods as your hunt continues with increasing pressure to produce results. Be prepared and have a pack with you that can handle taking a load...

    Unit 700 Montana

Have you ever hunted near that area before? It resembles the badlands. I thought about bow hunting it this year. I have never archery hunted there before. Was there last year for rifle with a friend but he got one on private ground.

New to Archery Elk hunting, partner needed

My advise.... Don't post on the internet your looking for a hunting partner and you have scouted the area. Somebody will jump on that wanting to go and haven't invested any time from back east..., maybe I'm wrong. I say that as I used to live there, nothing wrong them for wanting to do that...

    Montana bonus pt question

Good explanation StopMakingSense. I couldn't speak for the Non Resident as I am lucky enough living in Montana that I don't have to draw a general tag. Just got one mailed last week :) I thought that is how it works, but didn't want to to give any false info. I am putting in for Utah so...

    Montana bonus pt question

Your points are only depleted when your first choice is used for a special draw area to the best of my knowledge. If your talking about points for the general tag, I can't speak to that.

    Help with Montana

I would definitely apply as a group as well. The combo's did sell out last year so you will want to be in the draw before March 15th. If hunting in Central Montana I would want to have a deer tag as well, not much more and if you were to buy it separate, I believe its over $500. You will...

Pack elk out bone in or out?

I have weighed quarters and weights posted are spot on. Funny thing is I deboned one of my elk, just to take the kids on a hike in the summer where I shot it and they carried the rear bones back. lol 7 or 8 lbs might not sound like much but X4 thats 32 lbs. If your shooting right next to the...

    Montana/Idaho Spring Bear

You can look at harvest reports off the hunt planner on FWP website. It will give you an idea where the higher populations are. May want to check out in your planning.

    Barney's vs Kifaru

I have both the kifaru and the Barney's. Got the Barney's as I couldn't get a Kifaru frame in time a few years back. It hauled out my first elk and it worked really well. I have since always had my Kifaru with Argali bag and that works really well too. I have grown a custom to the bag and...

    Anyone hunt Turkey's in Montana?

We moved to Montana a few years ago from PA and love being here. The bear hunting in the spring is great, but I sure miss getting up and hunting birds in the morning. When I was 14 and in school I would get up at 4 and walk a couple of miles to where I could hunt. I would have to leave by...

Focus on the same unit or move on?

I'm not very familiar with Colorado seasons, but if you are going in Archery you would most likely be in the Rut? I see many times in Montana, Elk use the same rutting grounds year after year. If you go in the summer, don't be concerned with finding bulls, be looking for rubs, especially...

Starting over in a new state, ID or MT?

I wouldn't worry about the bonus/preference points. Both States are good, just do some research and get away from the road system. Either state has a chance at a 300+ inch bull in a general unit. Had friends come from Pa as I live in MT and 2 -6 points were killed in Idaho, and 2- 6 points in...
